Just bought some Blossom Hill White Zinfandel in Family Stores on Upland Rd, doesn't taste right. No sell by date on it but says 2013 on the small label on the back. It's meant to be fruity & fresh, um more like fusty & funny I'd say, with a hint of old socks! Prolly serves me right for getting the cheapest bottle, which wasn't really cheap at at ?6 short of a penny.

You are prolly right there, usually get Barefoot, which is really nice but it's more expensive in there than Barry's & I only had ?6 on me :O)

I think the age is fine, but it sounds like that wine was not stored properly and got too warm at some point in its life. Aside from the taste, this might also affect (possibly increase) the alcohol content. Take it back for a refund if you can be arsed. If not, down it and give us a minute by minute update of the results! ;-)

It does get hot in there & it was under the cctv lol. I am half way through now & it does taste a little bit better than it did at the start ;-) Don't think they will accept a refund on empty bottle :)

    • Yes, it would be great to see them nationalised. Along with the other water companies they seem to have a great business model: -submit a 5 year plan to the regulator asking for yearly price increases to cover the cost of improving the infrastructure and get them to approve it - carry on paying handsome dividends to shareholders and eye watering salaries to senior executives  - fail to achieve the infrastructure targets at the end of the five years, make some excuses and draw up the next plan Magic!

Agree with other comments that it is best to talk to lots of people.  Also, (not particularly related to the above agent), I wish I had read the reviews a lot more, rather than relying on numbers.  Depending on whether you are renting, letting, selling or buying the reviews often differ a lot depending on the relationship you have with the agent and it is worth checking whether the good/bad reviews match your situation.
