The trouble with ED Foxy is this, most of the 'posh' type places, are actually a little bit 'wannabe'. It's never been 'cool', it's definitely not a Chelsea Or Putney, lacks the up market credibility, it's not even on a par with the village. Stick to the ED caf! Big portions, low prices.

Fox, it's simple.

Get up in the morning and wear what you wanna wear, what you feel good in, what sometimes you feel a bit strong in, or whatever. You don't need to look outside yourself. Cred sure ain't wondering what everyone else is doing.

I don't think you really give a toss what anyone else wears though, do you ?

I think The EDF is the wrong place for light hearted discussion...


Everyone takes everything so seriously.


As if I of all people really give a s**t about Street Cred..


There are clouds over East Dulwich today ... but above the clouds there is Brilliant Sunshine..

For me, there's nothing cool about caring where you are seen and who you are seen with... that's just deeply superficial. But then if I was that kind of person I'd never have chosen to live round here.


I had some of my happiest nights out in the decidedly uncool Swindon - was all about being surrounded by good friends and having a good laugh - was that great time in your early twenties when you've left home / escaped the watchful eye of your parents, but don't have too many adult responsibilities to worry about. Oh and Swindon might be a dump, but it was quite cheap and student debt wasn't the issue it is now, so you could afford to go out more.

      Yes. I imagine the retail environment is complex and with every change there are winners and losers. The end of retail price maintenance meant the big supermarket chains could undercut small grocers, and specialist shops, the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker  Allowing supermarkets to open longer meant the corner shop lost some of its advantages. Changing consumer demographics, the move to the big shop by car (and now on line) rather than walking or getting the bus into town several times a week, put more pressure in small retailers. But against all this we have niche outlets, farmers markets and the like doing well. Comparing Peckham and East Dulwich is interesting, one has numerous fresh food shops offering good value, the other has products generally costing much more, with their own USPs. Shops come and go, trends come and go, and there is always a risk that demand disappears, or there is more competition. Good discussions thanks.  To open it up rather than dwell on the retail environment, how do cheese stalls at the Horniman and Herne Hill farmers market fare?  Assuming they are still there - haven't shopped at Horniman since it moved from Saturday and recent visits to Herne Hill have been to buy lunch when going to Brockwell Park.
