The kids have gone to a friends house with their daddy, and I think I will spend the afternoon cleaning out my make-up bag. Why don't you boys do the same? It can be rather satisfying, rediscovering a lip gloss you haven't used for a while!

The au pair is engrossed in the Jeremy Kyle show. She is horrified and traumatised by it and observed, "British people love sex and have many babies with many boyfriends" - I said "only on TV sweetie, this is Dulwich".

Wow, you must be really excited now. Bumbalina said you were going together to pick up the dress before the weekend - you haven't had a sneaky look dear Mr Huguenot have you? You know it is not good luck.

What is your suit like? Who made it? What colour and style? James had a black single breasted three button suit with baby blue lining - it was really cool. He looked so handsome. I think I shall take out my wedding album. It was the most perfect day.

Hmmm, Bumbalina and her merry band of followers have been harping* on about baby blue this weekend already.

We did indeed pick up said item from Morgan Davies in Islington. It was very long. It's in the spare room. I've seen colour swatches as we've had to co-oridnate with waistcoats and cravats ;-)

However, Mockney still hasn't told me his measurements. What does he have to hide I wonder?

*all devilish intent I suspect

I'm here, not drinking or doing anything too loud as I too spadetownboy have a 10k run! I will shake my tush (sic) at the Carnival on monday at Gaz's Rockin Blues...part from that...nowt.

(Ooh I've been to the Ottery Tar Barrels, bonkers!!) Mockney we have taken on a case of a woman who got hit on the head with one of those barrells, she has permanent brain damage. Cheery)...they're all feckless people down there....

I'm going to Croyde in two weeks time. That's in north Devon. A spot of surfing.

Duwlich will be nice and quiet then, apart from the usual Clapham blow-ins.

no no the carnival up in Nottinghill. Jah, you should know that, right?..and there's no tents, just sound systems. Gaz R. Blues has his in the shape of a wartime plane that's crashed into the jungle (very Lost) they have this whole set up that's bigger than the houses themselves. They're all in costume and it's madness!!!! the band play in the holes of the crashed plain and they all swing from the trees of the jungle....I kid you not. You must go and see for yourself. they also ply the crowds with very strong Jamaican rum. For free. Bonus.

Georgia you must go to The Black Rabbit on the river at Arundel. I used to go there as a kid with the folks. Still a great country pub. Great food! Take a stroll out of the town centre and you will see signs for the Black Rabbit. Very nice place to be on a bank holiday.

Ken still does free festivals - Rise was in Burgess Park 2 years ago before heading up to Finsbury Park

But then the lineup at Clapham is pretty good (for that sort of thing) - Streets, MIA, Go Team, DJ Semtex etc

    • Hi everyone, we are trying to finslise our decision for enrolling our son for 3+ from September and currently considering Dulwich Prep or Herne Hill. We like both and appreciate there is no right or wrong answer but what we like about HH is great focus on early years and also being coed. However if we can avoid the 7+ stress then prefer to do that. Dulwich Prep is closer but the difference is not significant. we know children are very active and busy in DP and they have great facilities, but unlike HH, we don’t know much about their focus on personal development and emotional intelligence, etc! Also not sure about long-term impact of being in boys only school. Difficult decision for us and we appreciate feedback from parents if you can share please.    thank you
    • Yeah that was their old policy. Their new policy is to force you to have a water meter and if you refuse they put you on a punitively high tariff which effectively forces you to have one. I was doing well with my policy of polite resistance which was to say yes fine I'll have one fitted but then not actually book an appointment or cancel the appointments they made. But then I was persuaded that it would be much cheaper anyway.
