Since 3/2/2009 I have been banned from posting on the ED Issues and Gossip section.

That was the the day I did The Bad Thing and was banished from there.

It's not something that has caused me a great deal of inconvenience, but I experience a degree of vexation at not being able to contribute to some of the threads that don't end up finding their way to The Lounge.

To that end I would like someone to post there on my behalf.

All you need to be is on call by pm 24 hours a day.

And by both land and portable telephones.

I would also require access via the internet. And if you haven't a Blackberry, then we ain't talkin' baby.

Remunaration; How dare you be so vulgar as to talk of money.

The hours are variable and based on caprice, alcohol intake and when the 'pithy muse' might strike.

Any contributors to the 'In Love With HonaloochieB' thread will of course be put on the long list, and anyone with a name resembling Sean, Quids or Keef could consider themselves a 'shoo in'

I await your CVs.

Hi HoonalochieB if this is true that you have been banned from the main section for over 2months then I think this is HUGELY PROBLEMATIC.

I recently got banned and presumed it would be for a week or so. I started a thread titled "this forums gone gay" and continued inside with a debate about Obama's statement that he wants to reduce the nuclear arsenal...I titled it so to act in the manner of redtop newspapers i.e. Freddie star ate my hamster ! I have not really got a problem because obviously if it is negative towards their forum then it is their right, however I think anything more than a couple of weeks is without doubt venturing down a very rocky road. There a lots of people who take freedom of speech on the net very seriously indeed. This forum clearly has a lot of influence on local politics in the area and in directly effect peoples lives, this forum may well have been created by individuals, but they really need to consider their responsibilities to the community at large, Democracy is tricky act to balance.

If they are indeed excluding people, and have a desire to keep it purely ED then I fear that this forum is taking a very wrong turn indeed. I have read some very clear racist undertones in this forum and these people are still posting. Most media companies moderate and control their forums to death, are you guys heading down this path? I am sure the local politicians or politically motivated individuals would love you to go down this route. If the admin are reading this which no doubt you are I think you should think very carefully about the direction you may well be taking.

I've had messages deleted without any notice or warning - but hey somebody's paying for the bandwidth and we are guests and it does happen to be the best local forum in London if not the UK so musn't grumble eh.

Admin - I do hope you keep a light touch regulation cos it's the breadth and depth of opinions that makes this such a good place to hang out and return to.

Amazingly Ive never been banned Ive had a few warnings but I always half think anyway as to not try and inflame too many people, I don't post in places like the main issues section or the family section willy nilly, after all the lounge is for lounging in, nowadays I'm a born again poster.

I know, them mischevious twins. If one's not plotting African coups, then t'other's being a bit racist in the green room of a shitty BBC chat show.

I blame the parents.

I don't think I should say BBW, suffice to say it involved the February snow, schools being reopened and the word 'Bolllocks'.

Than which I shall say no more.

Holy Mary mother of God, could I be more pompous?

One moment I was posting on there and the next day, for NO apparent reason it said that I could not.

I thought it was pathetic and did not want to lower myself to the level where I disputed it as no explanation or E-Mail was sent.

Frankly seems like someone has made themselves busy to justify their existence as "Moderator" quite frankly.

To my knowledge I was not in any dispute at all and many threads that could easily be lounged are not which I might like to contribute to.

Lets continue with this one then, shall we?:))

God you don't half post Hoonie - your last ever non-lounged post was on Feb 3rd have you ever considered you may have a posting addiction - my heart goes out to Admin the stuff they have to wade through - the horror , the horror ....

The 12 terminates at the top of Barry Road and there are no significant hills or slopes between Peckham Rye and there.

Pissed off this AM in Barry Road, no 12s or 197s running up there, and yes I checked the TFL site to see if they were diverted - nada.

The 363s were running down there but were not stopping, presumably because they were on diversion, at last one driver who presumably had kept a little of the sense he was born with, kindly stopped and picked us up, got to Peckham and it was not too bad after that.

Just miffed (and that's all) about the web site not giving proper info.

I shall be firing off a stinging rebuke to them when I return to my garrett

The East Dulwich gossip/issues section is about East Dulwich gossip and/or issues, if I have asked individuals to stay on topic once or twice or more and they continue to post irrelevant messages then I have to place the ban on them. There are so many posts these days and confining certain individuals to the Lounge is the best action I can take, I do not want to ban people outright unless I really have to. There is no "political" agenda despite what some may think.

Sorry ibilly99 and you are right, when some threads get out of hand the best thing I can do is remove the whole thing and unfortunately I cannot contact all the contributors to the thread to explain why.

Most of you understand the forum and that it is meant to be a fun place to discuss local issues (and non-local issues in the Lounge area). I never mean any hard feelings to anyone but there are rules and I appreciate you helping me keep the the place nice and tidy for as many people as possible.

Cheers Admin, much appreciated.

OK move away from here now, nothing to see. Proxy no longer required.

I have lost some of my 'bad boy' status, haven't I?

Though no one knew about that until I mentioned it today. So what harm?

And if anyone spots the Viz 'Top Tip' I posted on the matter, just ignore it.

admin the thing is what constitutes local and non-local issues in the General Ed area, one minute peckham rye park is not local next thing it is, infact next thing it is in East Dulwich ? one day no pubs in SE15 can be included in the best pub debate, next thing you know they are all pontificating about bellenden road. Then they move on to discussing the top schools in SE23 which they suddenly want in ED, although they do not want the new Academy. The bottom line is local is just that local, not narrowed down to off lordship lane, or postcode adjusting when it suits people's snobbish delusions. It does seem dependent on which class prefect starts a thread as to wether it stays in the local issues group! It's interesting when you look at the West Dulwich Forum and they are discussing 'THAT ROAD' in ref to Barry road, suddenly ED is to West Dulwich what some forumites on here like to think Peckham is to ED.

Chuckle.

I don't think you'll get the best out of Admin by suggesting that s/he has snobbish delusions.

You mentioned earlier that your problem was with a thread entitles "This Forum's Gone Gay", it doesn't sound much to me like a postcode issue as a prejudice one?

You are quite right to talk about responsibilities to the community, it seems you're a little less strict with yourself though?

Re. "Hoist with [one's] own petard", it's a quote from Hamlet. It means to be damaged by your own attack on someone else.

I can't work out for the life of me what this has to do with 'Thatcher's Children', unless you are suggesting that they had a good education?

The quote was written around 1600 - that's about 400 years ago if you're struggling. Since Thatcher was around for only 10 and a half years, it seems unlikely that she had much influence on the phrase.

Petard was actually a bomb that apparently was named after the act of breaking wind.

    • In just two days, we’ll take to the streets to show Donald Trump that he and his politics are not welcome here. On Saturday the global far-right mobilised their biggest protest for decades. We want to show that supporters of Trump and fascism are not the majority – far from it. Here are all the details you need for the day. The march assembles at Portland Place, near the BBC, at 2pm (see assembly blocs below). After speeches here, the march will move off at 3pm. It will then march down Regent St, through Piccadilly Circus, on Whitehall (past Downing St) to our rally at Parliament Square. The rally at Parliament Square will begin around 5pm and finish at 7pm. If you can’t make it to the march, feel free to join the rally after work! (Nearest tube: Westminster). The short, accessible version of the route assembles at the top of Whitehall (SW1A 2DY) at 4.30pm to march to Parliament Square for 5pm. You may also prefer to just join the rally directly at Parliament Square.  Join a bloc – and make friends! Our movement is diverse, and various elements are forming ‘blocs’ on the march to emphasise their visual presence collectively. You can join these blocs or form up behind them:   A) Palestine, near BBC, W1A 1AA B) Climate, W1B 1NS C) Amnesty, around junction with New Cavendish St, W1B 1LU D) Migrants' rights, W1B 1LS E) Jewish bloc, W1B 1QQ F) Ukraine, around junction with Weymouth St, W1B 1JL G) Europe, W1B 1NR More stewards still needed Stewards are a crucial part of keeping the protest safe for everyone to participate. They are a visible point of contact for attendees who may need directions or other assistance. Experience of stewarding is useful but it's also fine if you haven't done it before. You will be issued with a hi-vis jacket and briefed in advance and on the day.  Sign up to be a steward Staying comfortable on the day The demonstration lasts for several hours, so we suggest you should:     Bring a bottle of water and snacks (and eat beforehand)     Charge your phone fully the night before, and bring a portable charger if you can     Go to the loo beforehand (really!)     Buddy up with someone, or stick together as a group – it can be hard to find people easily if people wander off     Coming alone? Protests can be a great place to meet like-minded people. If you feel unsure, you can always talk to a steward     Consider the weather: bring a waterproof jacket or wear suncream where necessary     Wear comfortable clothes and footwear, and use our accessible route if you need to (see above) Bring your friends and family on Wednesday. Let’s make this massive! In solidarity, Stop Trump Coalition
