gregson74
Newlands School have proposed to expand the current school from an intake of 60 to 80 children and extending the age range from 11-16 to 11-19. 16 of the new pupils would be over 16 years of age. This will correspond with the opening of the new site for Ivydale primary school which is next door to the Newlands school. The main entrance has been suggested to be moved to the Rye Road side too.Surely the school should be making people in the surrounding area aware of this plan so that they can have their say but this doesn't seem to be the case. There was a consultation event at the school today which was not well publicised so the turnout was likely low. I'm posting this so that people in the surrounding are aware of the plans, so you have an opportunity to have your say.Pdf and link attachedhttps://drive.google.com/file/d/0BymDTrnKIYw5OFYtbkNRYkx3LVU/view Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/59360-newlands-school-expansion-proposal-2016-consultation/ Share on other sites
Renata Hamvas
Hi Gregson, I wasn't even aware of this. It's now an Academy so it's a bit harder to keep tabs on what is going on. I guess they are doing this as the age for a child to remain in education or training has gone up from 16 to 18. As I didn't know about this I didn't attend the consultation! Thanks for thisRenata Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/59360-newlands-school-expansion-proposal-2016-consultation/#findComment-849728 Share on other sites
