Chief
Does this new Japanese restaurant in Lordship Lane not pay for its waste to be collected? The bags of rubbish left on the pavement every day are a disgrace - and presumably a health hazard? edcam
I don't know but we ate there tonight and it was fantastic! The standard of the food is incredible, very fresh, which is just what you need from Japanese food.Great to have something different in ED. Chief
I was not questioning the quality of the restaurant! So not really a relevant response to the issue I raised. edcam
The title of the thread is the name of the restaurant, so it is relevant. There are too many multiple threads about the same subject on here.Chief Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> I was not questioning the quality of the> restaurant! DulwichFox
To say something is 'Fresh' is not really much of an endorsement of excellence. One would expect as normal all food to be fresh in all outlets. "Well serve tea, coffee and Fresh Sandwiches.. " No one is going to say we serve 'Stale Sandwiches. ' ??? edcam
Not so with raw fish Fox. Fresh is considerably more important than with other food. It was also delicious, is that word allowed or do you have some bizarre reason for disallowing its use too?DulwichFox Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> To say something is 'Fresh' is not really much of> an endorsement of excellence.> > One would expect as normal all food to be fresh> in all outlets. > > "Well serve tea, coffee and Fresh Sandwiches.. You can use what ever words you like. even Fresh. My point was that a restaurant should not need to say it's food was fresh. That should be taken for granted . Delicious is Subjective.. ? It's only 'Delicious' if you happen to like raw fish. I would not find it delicious, however fresh it was, or had had been prepared by Jiro ono owner of Sukiyabashi Jiro, a three-Michelin-starred Japanese sushi restaurant in Ginza, Ch??, Tokyo. It would still make me gag.. DulwichFox Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/58697-yama-momo-lordship-lane/#findComment-847618 Share on other sites
edcam
It wasn't the restaurant that said it was fresh, it was me. I consider that to be a positive thing. I don't really care whether you like/don't like sushi, I do and those others who also like it might find the recommendation useful.Anything else you'd like to troll on about?DulwichFox Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> edcam Wrote:> --------------------------------------------------> -----> > Not so with raw fish Fox. Jeremy
edcam is right though... there are degrees of freshness, it's not just a binary "fresh or not fresh". And it's particularly pertinent when it comes to sushi.Foxy, somehow I am not surprised that you do not care for sushi. Doesn't seem like your bag.. Mael
In any case, sushi can't be fresh by defintion as UK (and EU generally) regulations require the fish to have been frozen for at least 24h before serving raw. MrBen
Perhaps I went on an off night...but my one visit back in January was fine but nothing to get too excited about. It's a 6/10 suburban Japanese restaurant...Damn it with my faint praise I shall but Im glad its there in a way. Siduhe
Sue, I think you replied to a post on here saying you thought they must posting about another branch. It turned out to be a spam post (poster went back and amended it to put lots of links in) so the spam and your reply look to have been removed. Assuming I'm remembering the right thread...Sue Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Jeremy Wrote:> --------------------------------------------------> -----> > That's your conclusion is it, Sue? ;-)> > > Eh??
