poppet27
After a waiting list of 7 months, I finally got to see a physio at Kings College Hospital, but I'm really unimpressed because there's no momentum. I see a different person each time, so have to repeat my history, I have to wait 6 weeks between appointments and they don't offer very late nights. I tend to get the 6pm appointment, by which time they're clearly tired and wanting to go home themselves.Sorry to say that, as I'm a huge supporter of the NHS and never entertained the thought of private. But here goes.Any recommendations for someone local? The problem is regarding hypermobility and a weak core. Lizzylonglegs
Try ESPH on Lordship lane. Physio with an interest in Pilates. I can sympathise with the King's experience. They are just overwhelmed with work & unable to offer more frequent appointments. Good luck Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/58601-good-private-physio-kings-hospital-too-crap/#findComment-846701 Share on other sites
UVArchitects
stay away from Crystal Palace Sports injury clinic, misdiagnosed me for years, which ended up with me needing a knee replacement operation. Whittler
I can highly recommend Lewisham Hopsital Physio Dept - they do private consultations and you can self refer.https://www.lewishamandgreenwich.nhs.uk/private-fitness-and-wellbeing-clinicI have been to Crystal Palace in the past and while good, i think it is expensive. After several sessions there, i ended up having to go back to my GP as the problem was persistent and then i got an NHS referral to Lewisham. 3 sessions later (2 weeks between sessions and the same person each time) and the propbelm was solved. Andrew McCarter is especially good and i was really impressed. katanita
A second recommendation for ESPH physios. Have recently been seeing Sophie and she's good. Have similar issues with hypermobility and weak core. I was recommended general strength training, which I think has helped, and also find yoga and pilates good as long as you pay attention to not locking out knees and elbows. Have also been doing some "nerve flossing" exercises for arms that I feel have made a big difference. Feel free to PM for more details, I'd be happy to share my programme. beebee
Eh physio on lordship lane was excellent when I used Emma. Very well qualified chartered physiotherapist who sorted my back out very quickly. She is Pilates trained so will be capable of dealing with hyper mobility problems.Ehphysio.com. EDmummy
I've used Dulwich Physio on and off for years and would highly recommend. Personally, I would avoid osteopath and chiropractic treatment. LJ23
I would stay away from ESPH. I can highly recommend Rachel Neal, she is a lifesaver. She got me through my marathon training and is very perceptive and puts you totally at ease. I have slight hypermobility which she picked up on and helped with.http://www.rachelnealosteopathy.com/contact.html Good luck! Mrs TP
Just in support of Kings, I waited approx 6wks for physio, saw the same chap 3 times in a 6wk period (he apologised that was spread out too much but just happened to coincide with his annual 2wk big holiday in the middle of it and didn't want discontinuity of care), was able to talk through what I felt was and wasn't working by way of his additional recommended home exercises and am now booked into one of their weekly exercise classes.
