I suspect 95% of it is fake fur these days, isn't it?

RH - would also like to think so too, but sadly not the case.

We looked at hats in the market and also Sweaty Betty - both with real fur on their bobble hats - it's really unnecessary, given both the cruelty of fur farms and the alternatives available. It shouldn't really be in mainstream shops, as people are likely to buy it without giving it a second thought.

No necessarily.. I saw a TV program last year on Fake Fur. It mwy well be real...

Fake fur being sold on UK high streets could actually be real, an undercover investigation by ITV's Good Morning Britain has found.

Three leading retailers - including Debenhams - were found to have real fur items in their shops - despite two of them publicly claiming their products are fur-free.

Fur trims and pom poms labelled as "100% polyester faux fur" were actually Angora rabbit and raccoon dog.

The killing of Angora rabbits is particularly cruel as the fur is plucked from their skin while they are still alive.

The new BBC One idents. Apart from the fact they look a really bad amateur photography session, they have the added annoyance that if you have Freesat/Freeview, if you leave the channel on BBC1 HD and the local news is one, they drop to a holding screen for 10 mins with that awful 'fitness instructor' shrieking like a banshee stuck in a bear trap.

Bring back the circling hippos.

Waiting and watching the display boards on the train stations platform....just to check the train is formed of 10 coaches. Waiting till it runs through all the destinations, then the words Formed of.... come up, then it goes back to the frigging beginning without actually telling me how many frigging carriages there are.

I wait again and this time it comes up with the number of carriages once its run through all the destinations yet again..

anyone replying to an appeal for info who subliminally suggests the OP is educationally sub normal, has no idea how to harness the power of the internet to research, book, query, question, check weather, wellies needs? what could possibly be the reason to drive 10hours at least with ferries, accommodation and stops on the way, and you must be a blithering idiot not to know, having been told, that it will be wild wet and windy, not to take waterproofs with a hood ...wellies, camera, map, guide book, sou'wester, 4x4, jumpers, fluffy pyjamas, Scottish pound notes, midge repellent, a positive attitude and basic knowledge of the scuttling of the German fleet at Scapa flow, not to mention Scara Brae which pre dates the pyramids, gosh, how stupid, ..we gonna just drive up there with flip flops and anoraks, no idea what to expect, gosh..

People that go searching for their oyster cards once they've arrived at the oyster card reader rather than having it prepared in advance.

Might as well turn this into a moan about commuting:

People that leave bags on seats next to them until someone asks them to move them.

Able bodied people that refuse to go upstairs on buses causing congestion downstairs (see also refusing to move down the bus).

None of these are irrational are they?

Yes to all of these, but also, slightly on the other side of the coin, the people on the railway platforms who scream out "move down inside, people are waiting to get on" when it's quite obvious that every available inch of the carriage is filled with people, sometimes there just isn't any space unless people are going to climb up on the luggage racks.

Have you noticed that the boards at ED for the London Bridge trains now don't show how number of coaches?

That was a pet peeve (although hasn't happened for a wee while)- where the South Bermondsey train will be formed of 8 coaches and the subsequent LB train will only have 4. It's almost as though Southern Trains don't know what they're doing.

    • That would be a reasonable attitude as regards the management, but my experience is that the posties are doing the best they can but are woefully understaffed (there's no cover for sickness or leave, and some walks have no regular postie assigned) and, despite denials, packages are prioritised over letter post. Posties can only physically carry parcels to far fewer addresses than letters, which means even on existing walks they don't take letters out wit them if they are carrying parcels. Because they cannot walk to the DO (in Peckham) they have to drive there and back, with two or 3 walks worth in each van. Making covering another postie's  walk that much more difficult.
