Robert Poste's Child
Yuck! As if the general slimeyness wasn't bad enough, I've seen slugs eating fox poo in the garden. They're one of the few creatures I don't mind killing (usually in a bucket of boiling water). Robert Poste's Child
Men who combine the lycra-shrinkwrapped cyclist look with the full Old Testament prophet beard. It's just wrong. ultraburner
Agree about the slugs RPC. I just get brutal with them (trowel) and hope that they reincarnate as an eagle or something useful. Not seen that particular lycra/fast bike/beard combo yet. Robert Poste's Child
Intrigued by the trowel. Do you chop or just splat? Both seem quite blood(slime?)thirsty but may be nicer for the slug than dissolving. Salsaboy
Why be nice to slugs? A little sprinkle of salt does for me. I like them to suffer. Robert Poste's Child
All over London there are outwardly respectable people tiptoeing around their gardens brutalising slugs in the dark so their neighbours don't see. ultraburner
It depends how tiny you want to go, aquarius.Every mouthful of salad.... many aphids and microscopic creatures die a horrible death.Cheese is even worse; its carnage. And in other news: man swats fly in Barnet. civilservant
actually, I've come to appreciate slugs and snails. Because they eat the fox poo, I don't have to clear it out of the garden! They eat weeds and plant cuttings too, so I don't have to work hard to bag garden waste up and then hope that the council takes it away. I've found that if they've got a decent supply of decaying vegetation, they'll generally leave live plants alone. maxxi
I've 'pelleted' slugs and snails before now and left them where they 'fell' - taking a look the next day there are bugs and beetles, flies and spiders and all sorts riddling the bloated corpses and carrying off morsels for their grubs. Like a downed elephant consumed by hyenas, vultures, crocs and cats - a miniature Serengeti. LadyNorwood
I found a pair of big fat orange slimers "in flagrente" very much delicto this morning, curled round each other in a yin and yang pose - not for long, out came the Saxo (but at least they died happy).....
