KalamityKel
Wivout going into too much uninteresting detail - time wasting = insisting on seeing me, wait all day for appointment (not a prob as this is how it goes), get to appointment for doc not to b particularly interested (im certainly not exaggerating) and says i should go back to a&e... couldve done that in the first place and earlier in the day instead of wasting mine and their time.Ive always had much respect for the medical profession but recently... *shrugs* Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/5840-tiny-little-things-that-cause-you-irrational-rage/page/106/#findComment-761150 Share on other sites
susiq
People who wear backpacks or babies then swipe you with them because they couldent be bothered to check if anyone is behind them, or crush you/wap you in the face, in a queue/on a bus with them.people on bikes who think they can cycle anywhere they like and be rude with it.People who think they are the only person in the shop/bank/post office who needs attention/serving.People who think everyone should look out for/entertain their children whilst they shop/quaff wine/be in conversation - in fact anything rather than look after their own kids.Annoyed/brassed off/lost all desire to be anymore tolerant and pissed on from a great height people like me. Robert Poste's Child
Same with a lot of supermarket fruit. I bought a melon over a fortnight ago that's still sitting on the kitchen windowsill rock hard and smelling of nothing in particular. Bet it gets a soft spot before it's ripe enough to eat at this rate. Never mind the avocados. A mixed salad has a two-week leadtime. Jeremy
People who say "sourcing" instead of "buying" (thanks to Otta for this one). Going to the butchers does not require the language of a corporate supply chain. Zebedee Tring
The use of the word "scoping" when what the person really means is "investigating". "Scoping" is really a computer science word, like so many words that have entered the world of bullshit language in recent decades. the-e-dealer
Originmid 16th century (in the sense 'target for shooting at'): from Italian scopo 'aim', from Greek skopos 'target', from skeptesthai 'look out'. sense 3 of the noun is derived from -scope. Robert Poste's Child
The thing about jargon is that using a little of it tends to give people the comfort that you know what you're doing (as opposed to a lot, which makes people think you don't know how to turn the theory into action). I use 'to scope' as shorthand for 'to understand and plan the potential scope of' and I think it's OK. Work context only, though, otherwise you sound like a prat. Zebedee Tring
The point that I was trying to make was that "scope" has become yet another bullshit word - and IMHO that's the case, regardless of what the origin or the correct use of the word is.
