is this the one on Crystal Palace Road? Ridiculous. If you own that house - sort it out!

Your favourite pub, a proper drinker (i.e. no food) closing for 3 months. Then reopening, painted white and describing itself as a ?local beer house?. What a pub??! To top it all off it now sells food including overpriced pretentious burgers served on a bloody wooden chopping board. Tossers!

And how many customers did the old boozer have compared to the new one?

Not that numbers alone make it any better, but it probably points to the old boozer going out of business anyway. And better a ?new? boozer than some more dodgily converted flats

The Dean Swift off Tower Bridge Road. It was great how it was, always busy and the reason everyone piled in there was because they didn?t do food. You could guarantee getting served quickly as no one was fannying around with menus and paying by card. It had great big tables you could get two or three groups around chatting now replaced with smaller ones so they can do more ?covers? I suppose. Anything served on a chopping board is going to be pretentious in my book! Oh it?s a lot quieter nowadays?food won?t last long they were hoping to get passing tourist trade?..they won?t and so far don?t.

When a poster starts a genuine thread to recommend someone in the ED Business Restaurants & Trades area, and a competitor jumps in and says "ooh, call me!", or alternatively another poster recommends someone else. If you like them that much start your own thread rather than ambushing someone else's.

Petty I know but hey, that's what this thread is for.

    • Hello everyone, It's been a long time since I posted on here and I just wanted to update the situation. I remain active and available for haircuts. I am a home-visit hairdresser based in SW London. It's been a long time since I posted on here and I just wanted to update the situation. I remain active and available for haircuts. Some of you know me already. I posted a while back so I just want to re-introduce myself. I have been working as a hairdresser for the past 20 years (I'm 50, I trained at Vidal Sassoon and had a salon of my own, Top To Toe in Morden Jan 2000-Dec 2004) but now I just do freelance cutting hair for clients in their homes. I am available to answer queries if anyone has any? My speciality is cutting - men, women and children. I do have colour expertise so can advise but I do not colour hair at home. Thank you. Victoria Call / text / WhatsApp +44 7956 591944 Hairdressing prices (April 2025) Monday to Friday day/evening Ladies £40 / Men £35 / Children (aged 10 - 15) £15 / Children (under 10) £10 Weekend Ladies £45 / Men £40 / Children (under 16) £20   Making an appointment: Please try to give me as much notice as you can as sometimes I can come at the 'drop of a hat' but at other times the calendar is quite busy and I might be only able to offer you an appointment for the following week. There may be members of the forum who remember me coming to their home to do their hair in the 1990s! I have used the forum for a long time, as well also the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) newsletters back in the day. I have many clients with babies - it's one of the many reasons that people choose a home hairdresser. I always allow an hour and a half just in case there are interruptions in the haircut so that we are under no pressure. Finally I always make a policy to mention to new clients that I am transgender woman. I transitioned in 2009 and have reached the point when I "look" perfectly acceptable (I think, There is a profile photo which is up-to-date) however I make a point of being open about my history. If you are OK with that then I would be happy to cut your hair at your earliest convenience. My practice is that you do not wash your hair before I see you and I bring all equipment and styling products with me. All you need is shampoo and conditioner. p.s. If you do look at my website, I happen to be an artist and my website reflects that rather than hairdressing. Victoria Cantons
