I?ll second you on Brooklyn Lager.

Since Inside 72 (god rest its soul) closed the only place I can get Brooklyn Lager is Giraffe. Which means I have to go to Giraffe, which in turn means I either have to go to Clapham or arrange a holiday so I end up in an airport terminal.

I like going on holiday but I can do without going to Clapham.

Anything which does not say brewed in Burton-on-Trent is always a good start..

In the off licences in near Anfield, Liverpool you can always get the Belgian brewed Stella, the Dutch brewed Grolsch, the French brewed Kronenburg... rather than the Burton brewed versions which always taste weird.

But to answer the question, I'd say Efes from Istanbul which unfortunately I've only seen stocked in Weatherspoons.

We agree on the anything from burton on trent is def off the list

we are hoping to have a non main-stream range of lagers and ales rather than being just another outlet of the usaul chain rubbish.

My Ale of choice is TEA from hogs back brewery in Surrey , very nice beer ( TEA stands for Traditional English Ale)

Timothy Taylor's Landlord, Harvey's Sussex Bitter, Young's Special, Fullers ESB, London Pride, Wadsworth's 6X...I could go on with more bitter but we'd be here all night. A nice cold pint of Guinness. Tinned or draft Red Stripe and tinned or draft Stella Artois.

Pleased to see BBW and Keef recommending Heineken - I like it but thought not many others did, seems to get a lot of criticism, but I am having a can of it as we speak, its pretty good I think.

As for bitter - I'm getting into it slowly and usually go for London Pride if the pub has it. Also like IPA, not so keen on the heavy ones.

But its hard to beat Guinness and its served in every pub (I know not a beer or lager but deserves a mention).

    • Hi. I’d like a recommendation for a driving instructor please? Manual car. Ideally patient and not costing the earth.    thanks in advance
    • I wonder if anyone can help.  My age 16 child has been forced to leave school due to prolonged ill health, onset after Covid.  It’s incredibly isolating and I was wondering if they are any local clubs (art perhaps) for her age group, or just meet ups in the area- perhaps other children out of school/ home educated who would be keen to meet.  Anything very active is out of the question- so sports wouldn’t be possible.  I’d be very interested in speaking to other parents in my position about how they manage.
    • I inherited an electric awning.  It's fab in this extreme weather in my south facing garden. Canvas now decrepit and needs replacing.  Over stretched. Anyone done this - know of anyone who can do this? Advice much appreciated. K.
    • I think that presumption's a false one and that there's no such requirement.  If in doubt try asking 'Who can make a planning application?'   So it's firm evidence at most of just their belief that they might be  setting up shop there.  Putting in an early anticipatory application for their display signage, to lessen any dead time waiting for the permission, might well be a worthwhile expense.  They don't seem to have withdrawn the application, so are at least presumably still interested in taking over the premises.
