I used to have it done regularly and it is fantastic.. best way to describe it would be a bath from the inside... you immediately feel energised, refreshed and it makes you more aware of what you are putting back in! If the thought of something entering your exit area scares you, you could always try picolax... it's available from the pharmacy and has the exact same effect without the intrusion! It's a sachet that you mix with water and drink and it cleans you from the inside... if you do go for the colonic, I would highly recommend the natural health clinic in bexleyheath, I was extremely nervous but they make you feel relaxed and comfortable and take away any embarrassment you may have.

When my Dad was ill in hospital, a nurse came to him and said "Are you ready for your enema sir?" Dad turned to the nurse and said "Is anyone ever ready for an enema?". Sadly she had had the sense of humour beaten out of her, but we all giggled. Turned out it was not him she should have asked, for so had he meekly said yes, he would have had one unnecessarily....

A friend had colonic irrigation done a while ago and he said he had flushed out corn from corn cobs he had eaten over 2 weeks prior.

I would ask though that if you are considering it, go to a specialist, and if they don't give you a diarilyte type drink afterwards to replace the electrolytes and other of the good stuff you've just had flushed out along with the bad, then they ain't doing their job properly and you should go get some. But as many others have said, it's processed food and foodstuffs our bodies are just not evolved to deal with yet that can cause problems.

Eliza, it's up to you what you spend your money on and what you do to your body, and I'm sure the people on here who say colonics are great do percieve some benefits, but there is absolutely no physiological or anatomical reason to have one. The body is designed to deal with its own waste and whilst modern, processed foods and not great nutritionally it's just not true that undigested food stays in your colon for years. Colonic irrigation is a best an unnecessary but harmless waste of money, but at worst it's dangerous.

As for the suggestion that you take picolax for the same effect, well that I really have to object to. Picolax is an extremely strong laxative designed for use in medical settings. If used without care and attention to hydration and electrolyte balance it can lead to life threatening electrolye imbalances.

    • Round-robin letter received this week regarding this. Main points are that the number of new homes is being reduced from 877 to 867. OK, not much change there, but.... "A reduction in the number of affordable homes from 270 (35% by habitable room) to 77 (12% by habitable room)" That's a 72% reduction in the number of affordable homes. I don't know a lot about this kind of thing, but it seems that just 77 affordable homes in a development of 867 is a massive pee-take in an area where a 1-bed flat is £400K+ if it isn't "affordable." If you're interested, the application can be viewed at https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/ ref 24/AP/2074 and there's a lot of objections to the reduction in affordable homes. The drop-in sessions are Weds 26th Feb (Peckham Library) and Mon 3rd March (All Saints Church) at 3pm. Full details attached. 24_AP_2074-FILE_COPY_-_NEIGHBOUR_NOTIFICATION_LIST-4005193.pdf
    • I noticed 4 gone in a short stretch of Bellenden Road alone this weekend. I had no idea it was to do with the tech and thought that it was a retro Beastie Boys thing. Showing my age. Sorry I can only find a Facebook link if you are too young to remember this: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=578367166664170 Totally agree that it's a bad design flaw, and I bet the actual cost of the parts to VW is minimal so they could easily cough up some of the replacement costs. It's depressing that someone can go along a street popping these things off cars with very little worry about being prosecuted.
