'Probably Nothing..a diary of not your average 9mths' Matilda Tristram at Rye Books 9th April 7pm

Recommended Posts

Thursday 9th April 7pm at Rye Books

The very talented Matilda Tristram, children's writer, lecturer and filmmaker is coming to Rye Books to discuss her Graphic novel 'Probably Nothing' a moving, funny and inspiring graphic memoir by a woman who discovered she had cancer whilst she was pregnant.

'A beautiful account... Apart from how funny Tristram's comic is, it's hard to pinpoint what makes it so magnetic... the honesty makes you feel, as a reader, like a companion on her journey' Zoe Williams, Guardian

This touching and hilarious graphic memoir, which is never morose or self-pitying, starts at the moment Matilda was diagnosed and ends when her course of chemotherapy finishes in October 2013. Recording the awkward conversations, the highs and lows of treatment, the mixed blessings of receiving 'Get Well' cards, and the reality of still having to queue too long for croissants, Matilda captures her experiences with characteristic style and warmth. Along the way she cherishes the small details of life, and learns not to sweat the big things. Her beautiful and boisterous son was born without complications and is reliably keeping her up most nights!

Free event,

Cake, Tea, Coffee and wine available!

Best wishes,

    • So glad you found this poor little thing....  I heard that so many people tried to catch it as it was running in the road.  Well done!
    • As a one off thing, I'd 100% recommend going to Alexander Does Supper, if you like food! It's up at Dulwich Art School, and you do some life drawing, have an amazing three course meal, and then watch some burlesque! I met some great people from the local area, and it was something different that I would never have done otherwise. https://www.instagram.com/alexanderdoessupper https://www.alexanderdoessupper.com
    • No, signs of sense and scrutiny of "leaders" not knowing the impact of what they have done, so much so that every citizen in the UK will suffer financially as a result of an incompetent, incoherent, unhinged Govt that's impact is effecting every citizen in the UK. Where things were being turned around by the last lot, this lot has already compromised all that work in its first 120 days in power. You may not like it but that's the truth.  We are never going to agree and actually Reeves, Rayner and Starmer need to go, like yesterday.
