Transferring money overseas

Can anyone recommend a firm to send a substantial amount of GBP to an Australian bank account? Not Transferwise or Transferz as have already contacted them.

We have been using Halo recently for sending money to NZ (for a property purchase, so substantial amounts). Very simple and excellent service.

Can you not just do a CHAPS payment from your bank ? ?25 flat rate, sends by 2.30pm same day (or next day, if you miss the deadline).

Kidkruger, the rates tend to be much better if you use a service like Halo. Our most recent transfer was 3% more favourable than the rate quoted by our bank.

Obviously I have looked into using my bank. As the others have said banks offer a poor rate compared to brokers.

Orbit remit or XE transfer; both usually have good rates esp for large transfers

I have used https://www.ukforex.co.uk/ to send money abroad. Decent rates and costs, but be aware that the 'currency converter' on the front page of the site is NOT the rate on offer!

Thanks Loz. That's good to know as did a conversion with UKForex and they came out with slightly the best rate of those I have looked at so far.
