Administrator Administrator Posted April 2, 2015 Administrator Share Posted April 2, 2015 From now on I'm deleting those posts that can follow that simple rule but don't. I simply look at the title and think "does that show what, when and where (in ED) the event is?". If no then I delete it. Anything with capitals, that includes "...FREE...", "...TOMORROW...", "...DISCO..." and "...LOCAL...", gets deleted anyway. No warning. Apart from this one. Alys Torrance
Story Jam is a local storytelling night - We're just a bounce further down from the Horniman. We bring you a fresh line-up of professional tellers telling cracking stories for grownups each month, in a great little venue with an excellent bar and kitchen. So why tell you lovely East Dulwichites about it?Because we live in East Dulwich. Because we don't have a storytelling night this side of the hill. And because we're looking for somewhere on or off Lordship Lane to run a more family-orientated event. Perhaps you'd like to come and be entertained and see if you'd like to bring us closer to home. Tickets ?7/?6 concs. (tickets on the night on the door from 7pm)[email protected]www.storyjamjar.comThis month at Story Jam...RACHEL ROSE REID with Sybilla. "On your walk through the woods, you take a pause for breath. The leaves rustle, and something inside you answers back." Whilst walking 200 miles through a remote part of Italy last year, Rachel collected folk tales, mythology, local gossip, and the stories of families who've lived on the same land for generations. www.rachelrosereid.com'polished and compelling' The Independent'immense skill and breathless conviction' The TimesDANNY SCHEINMANN with The Mahabharata. Danny will be attempting a death defying storytelling feat. He will tell the first half of The Mahabharata, an ancient Indian epic consisting of 1 million stanzas and 18 times longer than the bible, best known for a tiny section at its heart known as the Bhagavad Gita. This extraordinary story is at once profound and profane, fantastical and philosophical. It tells of one family that divides in rancour and goes to war, pitting cousin against cousin and teacher against pupil in the most brutal of battles. But don't worry he will cut corners, take liberties and deliver this story in a fast, furious and physical way, improvised to live music. Anything could happen. It's risky, it's a high wire act and it's never been attempted in the West! Watch one man pit himself against the biggest, most beautiful story ever told. Will Danny survive or fall to an ignominious death?Plus Story Jam's very own LUCY LILL tells the fourth 5 minute installment of our serial story, The Sly Thief of Valenciennes. Will the King catch the thief? Will the thief catch the girl? There really is only one way to find out....As ever, Canvas & Cream will be serving up a storm of food, wine and tea. Make sure you get your loyalty card stamped.
