I haven't read the report but for me it's fairly simple.

If you carry a gun or even hang around wt people who carry guns, you have to expect consequences like this.

The police may have shot in haste but they're just doing their job and fully understandable reaction in a situation like this, regardless of all the training they get.

It doesn't bother me one bit that someone like Mark Duggan met his end like that. Most likely would have been shot by another gangster sooner or later....play with fire etc etc bla bla...

These are the met police, not Judge Dredd in megacity one - you think an investigation into an incident where the polcie shot & killed someone is a waste ?

I've not read the whole report (and I'm not going to), but from what I have read it just seems that no real conclusions can be reached because there is no evidence, so it's a case of we'll never no for sure, but this is quite likely what happened, and at the end of the day he wasn't a very nice guy and he did have possession of a gun.

His Aunt (I think it was) was on the radio yesterday. What was Mark doing that day? "He was going home for his tea".

What sort of country are we living in where a man can't simply go home for his tea - with his gun - without meeting his death at the hands of the Met armed response unit? If it can happen to him, it can happen to anyone going home for their tea with their gun.

Granted, and i accept that an investigation should take place following incident of this nature.

My issue is when it becomes a drawn out affair because some parties aren't willing to accept the evidence and try to paint him as an innocent victim.

It shows that a whole bunch of (what are now proved to be) twats wrecked several town centres and 100s peoples' livelihoods and homes just because they thought some bloke with a gun had been done badly by the Met.

Or, more accurately, saw it as an excuse for such antics.

Signs of a fecked society if ever there was one.

A very small amount of people kicked off that day because they'd even read the news about this. Most people kicked off that day because it seemed like fun and because they are morons.

If you were looking for a libertarian left right on response from the EDW massive....it hasn't happened. Looks like broad agreement on this one.

I wasn't looking for any kind of response. Just think it's interesting to hear peoples thoughts on it. I've encountered some pretty polarised views today.

the majority of disorderly behavior that night had no connection with what happened in Tots to duggan in reality, whatever the talking heads said at the time. sometimes you dont need much of an excuse to run amok. every generation gets its chance to riot.

shitty reason for a riot, shitty behavior by the rioters, shitty outcome for those involved in any dimension.

Not one of britains high points in the past few years

there is little as exciting as being involved in a riot, its hard to explain if you have not- the rush is scarey-0 its not hard to see how it unfolded so quickly

    • I'm currently on a little mission to recommend Jovaner, who I've recommended here before, and who has done lots of work for me over the years. The scope of works he can take on, and his skills, have expanded over the years. He now comfortably undertakes full house renovations, including bathroom and kitchen fit outs (he is currently doing my bathroom as we speak). He is a talented carpenter, tiler, plumber and decorator, and has the highest standards of any tradesperson I've every worked with (have a look at the kitchens and furniture that my company - West & Reid - makes for a frame of reference for my standards, if I say so myself! 🙂 Jovaner always meets and goes beyond my expectations. There aren't many people as multi-talented as him, and very few with such high standards. He is the first person I turn to when I need work done in my house - I've waited 6 months for him to do my bathroom, as he was the only person I wanted to do it. I wouldn't hesitate to get him to renovate my entire house if it needed it!  He is also the hardest working person I have ever met, and completely trustworthy, as I am sure multiple other recommendations on this site will attest to.  If you are wondering why I'm going to so much trouble to recommend him it's simply because he's so good, and every time he does a new job I am reminded of how good he is. But he constantly undersells himself, underprices his work, and has such attention to detail and such high standards that he rarely earns what he deserves for the work he does!  His number is 07429171373.  Happy to chat to anyone who wants the recommendation in person (07745553232) Malcolm
