Lower figures of unemployment are partly because of people going self employed, and not necessarily earning more than the unemployed due to economic instability and not many people spending.... Well... Loosely speaking, a Vindaloo in one Indian restaurant is much the same as any other Indian restaurant. Sometimes it's nice to have a change. Interesting view of democracy. The system works because we wouldn't be here today in a stable democracy which has produced stable majority government for most of the last century. The fact there isn't appetite amongst the populus for electoral reform speaks volumes too. I can understand why it would upset supporters of a minor party, but I think that's a good price to pay for stable Government (most of the time). Louisa. Ann
I agree Louisa. Electoral reform is not the subject of the title.I have a daughter at university ( 2012) intake and the first to have paid the increased fees.According to her there are plenty of students voting, good for them. They are exercising their democratic right to vote for the first time in their lives.Use your vote, don't complain about the consequences if you don't . KirstyH
I'm sure it was stable before women got the vote as well - and look what they had to do to dislodge the status quo.Exit polls out - bloody hell. Louisa
Be dubious of exit polls people. Remember 1992? But if correct, doesn't surprise me. England always turns right when they fear the bogeyman, in this case the SNP. Louisa. ????
Are all tha analysts stooped? Clearly the Labour Party is losing votes to UKIP and perhaps more than the conservatives. Mick Mac
But Labour can forget about relying on any Scottish excuses for sympathy. It's the economy stupid and most people have recognised that the Tories have done a good job. Louisa
Labour lost its core vote a long time ago, and the mocking from the urban intelligentsia of the working class core vote was enough to send many traditional labour voters off in search of an alternative. I know I have for some time now. You reap what you sow. Louisa. Blah Blah
It's just too depressing. There's even talk now of Cameron getting a small majority, which would be just a disaster for the poorest, and most vulnerable. Massive cuts to come. Front line services starved of funding. It's back to the 80's. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/55666-general-election-2015/page/15/#findComment-845433 Share on other sites
