Moss removal from roof

The interwebs disagree on how best to remove moss from the roof - some say pressure wash, others mention copper wire/strip and still others talk about mechanically removing the moss and rubbing in chemical solution. Have any of you had any experience with any of these approaches and to what success? The opposition to each method is strong - the option of scraping off manually seems the most sensible...

Manual. It's bloody hard work though, the mossy stuff doesn't give up without a fight.

Why do you want to remove it? It never usually causes a problem unless it's blocking gutters.

Surprised there's not some chemical you can buy which will just kill the stuff.

I remember reading sometime ago that we should be glad for moss - it means the air is clean enough for it to grow (not possible up until the 1960s or thereabouts)
