Angharad_L
Does anyone have any info on Sorsi y Morsi? It was closed in the afternoon at the weekend and the website is now down. It's one of our fave places to eat Italian in Dulwich and we'll be gutted if it's closed! Has anyone seen it open as usual this week?Angharad Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/54392-sorsi-y-morsi-closed/ Share on other sites
worldwiser
No. It closed. A proper Italian opened a few doors down, maybe you've seen it. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/54392-sorsi-y-morsi-closed/#findComment-822759 Share on other sites
toto
Sorsi y Morsi has been closed for a month. Real shame as it was a very decent Italian restaurant.'Proper Italian few doors down' ????? MelfordRd
Only time I've ever been there they had one red wine in stock (the most expensive) and took forever to bring out boring food even though the place was empty. I respect them for giving it a go. Opening a restaurant is hard enough, but if you dont put your whole life in it never works out. Never went back. Jeremy
Went once, it was fine but not exactly exciting. Nothing you haven't had a hundred times before elsewhere.I think these days people are looking for something more interesting than generic pizza and pasta before parting with their cash. bonaome
My experience was quite different. We went there several times and very much enjoyed it every time. They always seemed to have some nice specials on and there were a few Sardinian specialities on the menu which were a bit different to the norm - we have tried lots of different dishes there. Also I found them very friendly, not highly polished in the service department, I agree, but friendly and nice with children.I think it's very hard to make a go of a restaurant in that space. It might work better as a cafe - though we have quite a few of them already. jimbo1964
Si Mangia on Forest Hill Rd seemed to have nailed the bog standard Italian local. I don't use it but I know loads who love it and go back and back. The food was great, and we will miss it. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/54392-sorsi-y-morsi-closed/#findComment-822859 Share on other sites
Angharad_L
GUTTED. We had so many lovely meals there and it was a great local place to grab pizza or pasta. When Franco opened I feared the worse that Sorsi might suffer. We kept going but we're gutted it's now closed. SO SAD! :( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/54392-sorsi-y-morsi-closed/#findComment-822906 Share on other sites
LondonMix
It was okay but it looked like it was struggling for some time. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/54392-sorsi-y-morsi-closed/#findComment-822916 Share on other sites
Fliss
I thought Sorsi e Morsi was excellent, and I am very sorry to see it go. The ambiance was very pleasant, the food was delicious, proper authentic Italian and the waiters were great. Annasfield
What a shame :( I didn't expect it to last long after Franco Manca opened. I quite liked Sorsi's pizzas, but they were pricey! goosey-goosey
For a good Italian meal, you couldn't beat Hannah's on East Dulwich Rd. Shame it closed, oh, 15 years ago. dimples
Oh that's a real shame ,:(At the beginning it was slightly all over the place but then to our happiness the menu altered and they had the specials and the food was excellent from there after and we used it a lot ! Very sad to see this one go .Si mangia is really lovely aswell Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/54392-sorsi-y-morsi-closed/#findComment-823029 Share on other sites
Whoop
Went there just the once. My partner found a long hair in his pasta and complained. We were very impressed when the chef personally came out to apologise, only instead of apologising she said that 'unfortunately in hot, sweaty, busy kitchens, these things happened'. We never went back. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/54392-sorsi-y-morsi-closed/#findComment-823043 Share on other sites

Help-Ma-Boab
This hair thing...what's so bad about it? Never got the uproar with a hair in my nose bag. One single hair, take it out, keep calm and carry on. Never been sick after. Genuinely don't get it. Then again, I did and probably still do eat a bit of food I've dropped on the ground. Robust guts I guess. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/54392-sorsi-y-morsi-closed/#findComment-823276 Share on other sites
spark67
Sad about this, we went there many a time and had such a friendly rapport with the staff and the owners, loved it in the summer in the outside bit.Shame, nothing seems to last long in that space. EFC123
I always thought the food was good and the garden was GREAT but the interior really let the side down. Even just dimming the lights would have made it more inviting - there's nothing less atmospheric than an over-lit restaurant in the evening! A real shame though - it was nice having an independent, family-run option. Thank god we've still got Il Mirto... phobic3000
Shame, I always wanted to try it but it looked like it had really bright lighting inside which put me off. Plus it was next door to my favourite curry house so the temptation was too great. Sorry to hear it didn't pan out well for them.
