The Dulwich Raider
Afternoon, I had nothing else to do so I put together a boozy, woozy art crawl in North Lambeth and Southwark.Warning: swearing, drinking and illegal activities.(Once again, I blame Half-life for all the above)http://deserter.co.uk/2015/02/south-london-arts-holes/TDR Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/54291-boozy-art-walk-vauxhall-waterloo-borough/ Share on other sites

The Dulwich Raider
Thanks, Jah Lush.I meant to say, I am planning another in the spring - Brixton, Camberwell, Peckham, Dulwich.South London Gallery and Dulwich Picture Gallery are shoe-ins, but would welcome suggestions of smaller galleries that people like. And pubs ;)TDR Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/54291-boozy-art-walk-vauxhall-waterloo-borough/#findComment-821860 Share on other sites
goosey-goosey
By Peckham, I guess you mean Bellenden. If so the Vic Inn, with the Gowlett and the Montpelier on the way down from ED, form a holy trinity. As for galleries, try The Arches on Blenheim Grove (for good art and nice people) and Flat Time House on Bellenden (for something more cerebral) are possibilities. goosey-goosey
Oh, and the Bussey Building is another trip in itself. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/54291-boozy-art-walk-vauxhall-waterloo-borough/#findComment-821910 Share on other sites
Robert Poste's Child
In Herne Hill there's that poppy-uppy installationy gallery thing on Railton Rd within stumbling distance of the Commercial and the Florence that looks quite interesting. There used to be a bar called Escape opposite the station that did art as well but that has sadly gone. BrandNewGuy
Loved the story. A small gallery well worth visiting is the Borough Road Gallery in South Bank University. It's dedicated to the work of David Bomberg, a great but much neglected artist:http://www1.lsbu.ac.uk/w2/boroughroadgallery/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/54291-boozy-art-walk-vauxhall-waterloo-borough/#findComment-821929 Share on other sites
indiepanda
Another great post.I am wondering what would have happened if I hadn't resisted the temptation to press the "do not touch this button" button on the right hand side though.... It's like telling even the most well behaved kid not to blow through their straw when given a glass of pop in a restaurant... temptation overwhelming! The Dulwich Raider
Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions.Didn't know about The Arches - is that different to Peckham Springs (which is on the putative list)?Nor the Borough Road Gallery - good tip, thanks - wish I'd put it in art crawl #1TDR Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/54291-boozy-art-walk-vauxhall-waterloo-borough/#findComment-822094 Share on other sites
StraferJack
Is the Horniman just that bit too far out of scope? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/54291-boozy-art-walk-vauxhall-waterloo-borough/#findComment-822096 Share on other sites
david_carnell
The Guardian beat you to it just without the booze!http://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2011/jun/24/discovering-peckham-art-scene Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/54291-boozy-art-walk-vauxhall-waterloo-borough/#findComment-822106 Share on other sites
Applespider
If the Horniman isn't out of area, nipping down the hill to Canvas and Cream (if they have an exhibition on) could be good and there are a few drinking establishments around there Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/54291-boozy-art-walk-vauxhall-waterloo-borough/#findComment-822272 Share on other sites
goosey-goosey
Raider, The Arches are in the arches just down from the arches where Peckham Springs have sprung up. http://the-arches-studios.com/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/54291-boozy-art-walk-vauxhall-waterloo-borough/#findComment-822280 Share on other sites
