Hi,

I have been living abroad for the last few years but will be moving to East Dulwich in the summer. I don't have a good idea of how the nursery system works in London, except that there seem to be long waiting lists (!), but if possible I would like to put my son who will be 2 in September into a nursery or playgroup for 1 or 2 days a week (timings are flexible and can be full days or half days). Can anyone recommend any nice places in the area that might be suitable as I'm not sure where to start looking? I do part time work from home but the main reason to put him into playgroup is that I'd like him to have some time away from me socialising with other children. He goes to daycare at the moment for 2 days a week and seems to enjoy it.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

My son is at Ruskin House School which is Herne Hill but people from ED use it too. I like the size and especially the outdoor space plus the hours (7-7) as it allows for early starts or late finishes when needed (though this doesn't sound important for you). They don't do half days though but it is 51 weeks per year except bank holidays and a couple of training days. They tend to thin out by September as kids go off to school so you might be ok.

    • Well if it is, I bit. But the point remains the same.
    • What an extraordinarily selfish post. Even in "the middle of London", believe it or not, there are people with buggies, in wheelchairs, with mobility aids, with visual disabilities, with shopping trolleys, with young children holding their hands,  or who otherwise find it hard to negotiate blocked pavements. "Young people" (I'm sure this isn't just young people) can "enjoy the local amenities" within the boundaries of the "amenities", and without making life difficult for others. Many of those others have probably lived around here long before these "young people" moved in. This is a residential area with shops. It isn't a pedestrianised area in the West End.
    • Posting this here rather than starting another COVID  thread, as there are already two, but admin please move if it's inappropriate. I've never had a bad reaction previously except a sore arm, but I've woken up feeling headachy and achy  and quite unwell. I've had to cancel two appointments,  and my dentist receptionist said this reaction can happen even if you have been ok before, and it  can take three days to go away. Wondering what other people's experiences have been. Obviously it's possible I've got something unrelated to the jab, but it seems a strange coincidence if so.
