That can't be right Mr Fox. I am suggesting a way to alleviate aircraft noise over East Dulwich and London. Clearly the airports we currently have are insufficient for demand and in order to remedy this they?ve come up with the brilliant idea of extending either, and possibly both I think , airports.

This will only make noise more of a problem in London. So, despite my lust for travel, I think I have every right to complain.

I've come up with a genius plan, killing several birds with one stone.

1. Close all airports in London down completely and move them to Birmingham.

2. Build a high speed shuttle train service between London & Birmingham.

3. Build cheap affordable housing where the London airports once were.

4. Issue free ear mufflers to the people of Birmingham.

Hussar! Housing crisis solved. No planes over London.

I have received an email from HACAN EAST who are an organisation who say they represent residents who live under City and Heathrow airports flight paths. They say that as from today the 4th of February, London City Airport will be concentrating flight paths across east and south-east London, including over parts of Southwark. the main areas affected in particular will be Dulwich Village, when the wind is blowing in an easterly direction. Easterly arrivals will affect Bexley, Sidcup, New Eltham, Mottingham, Catford, Dulwich Village, Herne Hill, Brixton, Stockwell and Vauxhall.

City Airport has failed to engage residents and local stakeholders and simply published the consultation document in a buried section of their website. The CAA announced it would implement these flight paths on the 22nd of December.

HACAN is currently seeking legal advice which may result in action. HACAN can be contacted through Robert Barnstone, Campaign Co-ordinator at WWW.hacaneast.org Tel. 07806947050

I will be contacting this organisation for more information. There are many residents in this area who are already being disturbed by aircraft noise especially early morning. Extra flights in and out of City Airport will only compound this problem.

I've not found it yet. Is it still there?

It took some time even to find those parts that dealt with engagement with "our community". The sign to follow seems to be CSR (Corporate Social responsibility). I then find a consultative committee http://www.lcacc.org/ that doesn't include Southwark or Lambeth residents or council among its members, and an Airport Transport Forum http://lcacc.org/atf/index.html which seems not to have met since 2013. I'm posting, btw, simply because of interest in the social engagement and consultation matter. I don't have an issue with the noise of their arrivals.

Same here on Tuesday. Really loud even through my supposedly acoustic glass. Had about four hours sleep. Really pissed off.

Don't be fooled by Heathrow's claims regarding steeper landing descents. They are PR window dressing and have and will make no difference to noise pollution caused by planes. Previous plane descent was at 3%. It's now at 3.29%. Which makes for difference in height that is, sadly, negligible.

If you are bothered by aircraft noise I suggest joining Hacan http://hacan.org.uk . They are fighting for respite periods for SE London like the ones implemented for residents in Kew / Hounslow etc. Londoners should share the noise from Heathrow fairly, at the moment many of us are taking more than our fair share.

Please also consider emailing [email protected] when you are woken / bothered by noise as all complaints are registered and high volumes of complaints from the SE may help the cause.

If you ever want to see the identity of a flight travelling over your house, head over to Flightradar24

Flightradar24.com is realtime information and shows the progress of flights across the world.

I can, for instance see at this instant that an Alitalia flight AZ216/AZA216 from Milan to London City has just flown over Dulwich Village at an altitude of 2,475 feet, is 8 minutes early, has a registration of EI-RNA and is an Embraer ERJ-190. Useful if you want to cite a specific flight.

It's great if you're picking someone up from London City Airport and want to know how late they'll be ;-/ Or whether their plane departed on time.

And with capital letters kibris wins aircraft noise moron of the month

With a brain that brought kibris to the point of making that idiotic comment post are we surprised in the LOVE of aircraft noise? NOPE

kibris would I be correct in thinking you also like hitting yourself over the head with a LARGE hammer? A. YEP !

Dear Secretary of State,

Big changes will take place to the flight paths at many airports, including Heathrow, over the next few years. They are being brought about by the new technology which allows aircraft to be guided much more precisely. Used well, this technology will enable aircraft noise to be shared more equally than it is today. We urge you to permit the introduction of fair flight paths.

Why is this important?

At present, over 700,000 people live under the Heathrow flight paths; that is, 28% of all people impacted by aircraft noise across Europe. For many people it can mean more than 40 planes an hour passing overhead at the busiest times. People are crying out for respite. Fair flight paths would mean most communities getting respite for 50% - 70% of the time without noise becoming a serious problem in new areas. It would benefit residents with no disbenefit to the airport.
