I guess I will use that about as much as I did the launderette. In my view would be far better used to expand the Co-op which has the narrowest aisles and could definitely use the extra space. kristymac1
I thought the co-op's (numerous) planning applications had the laundrette down as part of their storage plans... sheilarose
Charity shop or book shop or secondhand furniture shop ( used to be one of the latter where The French Cafe is now, which I sorely miss, but obviously didn't do enough to support when it was there... Louisa
The quandary is, expensive site makes it unaffordable for most, and yet the size and space available isn't big enough for a major retailer (age old ED problem). So what happens? The co-op expands and pays over the odds for some storage space. Louisa. Jah Lush
There used to a lovely bakery along that little strip. Sadly it closed about 20 years ago. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/53789--/#findComment-817757 Share on other sites
Nigello
It would be great if it were used as (almost) anything. FHR is looking better than ever, despite that eyesore near the barber's - the yellow and blue building. The William Hill is also empty, but both it and the former laundry look like something is happening with them. An extended Coop would be good. Jah Lush
Yeah, must be. I'd do the same coming home from all-nighters and smelling the lovely fresh bread pop in there for eats on the way back. The bread still warm when I got home. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/53789--/#findComment-817799 Share on other sites

Laur
I remember this bakery too - It was owned by a neighbour of mine who used to live a few roads away from the bakery itself - it was open all hours but I remember being disappointed that their cream cakes were never real cream. solar
Does anyone know what is happening to the empty site just round the corner from the launderette in Dunstans Road? The site was cleared some time ago but a live electricity supply was left attached to the wall which was clearly extremely dangerous in the rain. It has now finally been cut off, but the site remains empty. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/53789--/#findComment-818053 Share on other sites

joom
The words I've heard are that the flats will be renovated and let with nothing happening just yet to the old laundry space. Also, that the lady that runs French cafe is taking the building next to the barbers and turning it into a french restaurant. Nigello
Magnifique! Enfin, the bloody awful yellow and blue place next to the barber's will be no longer an eyesore.
