Hi Helena

Cats can become depressed and stressed with the loss of a companion. Older cats can also suffer from dementia, which we only found that out recently.

I'd talk to your vet about this, or call Lordship Lane Vets, who I use. They had lots of good advice when my old boy went through a very vocal phase through the night.

Bryan

Thank you, Bryan. I think you are right about the effects of the loss of a companion.

As my cat was urinating on floor mats I have removed them in the hope that this will deter that particular behaviour. A vet advised that I set up a 2nd litter box and place some grass in it - as he also likes to urinate outside. So we will see!

Best wishes,

Helena
