I'd say in this instance it's merely checking the song that that you probably have pinballing round your brain at the moment, but can't put a name to.

The 'It's on the tip of my tongue, honest' rule can be applied.

Was this car named Christine by any chance, Brendan?

Any way off you go.

Anyone? Anyone?

Hello?

Come on I have tried really hard on this thread not to use lyrics from most of the bands I listen to and rather find ones that you normal folk will know.

I didn?t think these guys were that obscure. They?re even poms.

From the West Midlands, big in the ?90s, this was one of their biggest songs.

Played a style of music that shares its moniker with Nanny Ogg?s cat in Terry Pratchett?s Discworld novels. (just to be a bit obscure about it)

As everyone knows Grebos were Greasers with no work ethic.

One of the main protaginists was a band called Crazyhead who named an LP after the horse Desert Orchid, if I'm not mistaken.

I reckon The Anti Nowhere League fitted in to the category as well, probably best 'known' for their evisceration of Ralph McTell's Streets Of London.

I just knew that the money I invested in buying Sounds every week would pay off at some point.

Ok, I confess I was intrigued by the grebo clue as I used to be into those bands many years back, and I was sure it was Ned's Atomic Dustbin (my friend "dated" their drummer aged 16 and they invited us backstage when supporting the Wonderstuff at Brixton Academy, oh the excitement!), so I looked it up online and it was - Until You Find Out

That's fine, SG we mostly don't announce ourselves on this thread and the game is not 'ours', it belongs to the world.

And you brought some fine personal detail about the Dustbins that I for one appreciated.

Took their name from an episode of the Goon Show, a favourite of our own Prince Charles.

That?s, Touch me I?m sick by Mudhoney

Sorry for breaking the lyric game for a bit there btw, mea culpa. Interesting thing that Sanity pointed out about Neds Atomic Dustbin is that, peculiarly they had 2 bass players so I suppose teenage girls were twice as likely to snog a basserist from them than from other bands.

Surely Anti Nowhere League are a punk rock band though Honestlucy.

Here is the next one directly from the womb of mainstream corporate rock so as not to cause any confusion. Although there is a link to the Seattle scene as a nod to the previous post.
