Doesn't surprise me, since the work at London Brdige over the August bank holiday trains often seem to have to wait outside London Bridge for a platform to become free. And that's assuming they even arrive on time, which they don't seem to that often.

I've got so fed up I've more or less given up using the train - would rather get the bus and sit down and not have to stand on an overcrowded crowded train as it hangs about for ages for the privilege of reaching my destination a couple of minutes sooner.

The 40 is fantastic, but even last week when there was very little traffic, it took 55 mins from Monument to Lordship Lane. It's a real alternative on the way into the city in the morning as the section from Camberwell Green to Elephant & Castle is manageable, but on the way back even a delayed train still wins every time, for me.

Don't forget to add on how long it takes you to get off the platform.

I hardly use the trains now. Most journeys are taking double what they should do, it's not acceptable. They really ought to be offering some form of compensation to season ticket holders.

Yes is face value minus months used at monthly prices

E.g. Annual ?1000, monthlies ?100, refund for six months is ?1000-?600=?400

Hurry!

I filled in a delay repay claim to see what would come back. Claimed for 2 delayed journeys, 1 over 2 hours and I got a grand total of ?2 back! It's ridiculous and so unfair, I've spent a fortune on taxis just to get home!

Grim isn't it? The threshold is 30 minutes, people whose journeys are shorter than that should still receive something if the delay doubles their journey time.

I buy an annual zone 1 & 2 season ticket. It's currently a complete waste of cash as I get the bus every day.

Agreed. Am willing to have the bus take more time as I walk to the start of the route, settle back in my window seat on the top deck and relax with my kindle. Much less stressful than standing on an exposed platform in the cold as the crowd builds up for a delayed train, having to get pushy to even get on, and then be squished standing up for the journey. Ok, it's not that bad every day, but far too many recently, especially as it costs more (I don't buy a season ticket).

Ok well I explored other options and I can't seem to make it work: can't leave the office at 5.00pm in Moorgate and be at school to pick up for 6.00pm (something I have done for years without any problems!). I looked into going to Peckham Rye via Farringdon or via Surrey Quays and the timing is too tight when leaving at 5.00pm. Any other ideas? I am not wedded to using Peckham rye. I could potentially use Forest Hill/Denmark Hill... - anywhere where buses are good.

I do Peckham Rye to Moorgate every day. Overground gives you a few different options - walk to Shoreditch High St, or Hammersmith & City via Whitechapel, or Northern and Jubliee via Canada Water. Also City Thameslink is only a 15 min walk from Moorgate, the Thameslink trains to DH and PR seem reasonably reliable.

However, none of these routes offer quite the speed and frequency of the old London Bridge service.

We spend months without a platform at LB with delays coming in. they close LB after NY to do engineering works and redevelop the station and we come back to worse than before. Signal failures, cancelled trains, short trains, apologies for delays and one of the most irritating excuses, the driver has not shown up (probably because he is catching one of your bulls*t trains to work!). What the hell is wrong with the signals and what the hell is congestion at London Bridge? The trains are timetabled and should be arriving on time and therefore congestion means that they are messing up rather than too many trains are turning up to LB.

If I have to do one more walk from South Bermondsey to work I am going to blow a fuse and I am thinking most of my work colleagues think I am just a late riser as I am consistently late and don?t even bother apologising anymore. It is really bad and the problem is there is no accountability. You can scream at the staff or you can send an angry email which will be added to the ?pissed off commuter? pile and probably ignored but they still have the nerve to fine you if your oyster card does not beep you through properly (I am waiting for that argument one day ? I might end up sectioned).

To make matters worse these trains seem to turn up ?by surprise? when you are waiting for them or disappear into thin air. You are waiting at a platform seeing that the train is coming in 5 mins, 5 mins come and go and the train is still somehow expected 5 minutes ago and then it suddenly is expected in 15 minutes time with no warning or announcement. Likewise you will be waiting on platform 15 and it suddenly gets announced that it is leaving from platform 12 with 1 minute to go causing mass panic as people scramble through the barrier obstacle course that has been set up to launch yourself into a train before it leaves and you have to play another 30 minute guessing game. Staff surely know if a train is coming or not, or likely to leave from a different platform and give you a bit of notice just to make life easier.

We just stand there patiently sweating on an overcrowded, late train, inhaling the flu riddled air and staring into our phones whilst we get our daily ?apologies we are being held at a queue going into LB? from an unenthused train driver who pushes 3 buttons for a living and has become so accustomed to making the same excuse that he probably does it in his sleep.

It really is ridiculous?
