HannahSE23
Hi there, my soon to be 6 year old is desperate to have a build a bear party. Has anyone else done this? Is it worth the cost? I'm wondering if there's anything else that's creative/arty but local that I could persuade her to try instead. I think someone mentioned a T-shirt decorating party on here once? Any thought/suggestions gratefully received. Thanks all! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/52824-build-a-bear-party/ Share on other sites
Jules-and-Boo
you can limit the price per child - get in touch with them to find out.It really is something magical for them at that age, but perhaps you could take her and a friend instead. It can add up once you start buying the accessories, so make some rules first.Perhaps look on ebay (or here!) for second hand clothes so they can play dressing up ..... hazelnunhead
My daughter went to a friends party where they had ordered teddies (hers was a dog) that you make and stuff. My daughter loved that, it wasn't build a bear but similar concept and you can do it at home. I can try and find the details if you want. HannahSE23
Thanks for replying both of you. And yes hazelnunhead, if you could find the details and it isn't too much trouble that would be great. Sadly my daughter was ill over Christmas and missed the whole thing so I'm really keen to make her birthday special, although without breaking the bank! Bonfire2010
These people https://www.bemybear.com have come to a Christmas family day that my firm runs for the last few years. The people who organise it seem very nice and there are some choices of what to make - last year my (then) 3 year old made a footballer bear, and this year he made a turtle and they made my youngest (1 year) a puppy. I have no idea of costs etc. as it was organised through my firm, but it might give you some ideas. mrs.lotte
My daughter had a build a bear party last year. We all got the bus to Covent Garden, I limited the price to ?20 per child for which they got an hour in the shop and their going home present (ie the bear) My daughter then got a loyalty card and the points she got from the cost of the party gave her about ?20 credit. They do a money off deal with pizza express round the corner which does a very reasonable children's menu.Given the cost of a different type of party; hiring a venue/entertainment/party bags/catering it was rather cheaper and all the party goers loved their bears. Obviously there are cheaper ways to do a birthday party but it was really special and less expensive than I thought it would be. lightweight
We haven't done a bear party but we did the T-Shirt party for our 6 year old and it went down a treat. The kids get to wear the T-Shirts home and they made some lovely spin paintings for alternatives to party bags. It was ?20 a head. http://capturedontherye.com Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/52824-build-a-bear-party/#findComment-809982 Share on other sites
iaietta
I second lightweight. The screen printing and spin painting parties by COTR are a real hit. It is amazing how much excitement they can create, just try and you'll see! annieB
Just to add that the screen printing, spin painting of T.shirts and bags at Captured on the Rye, have been such an amazing success for our children's birthday parties, I totally recommend it!
