Leaves usually rot down very quickly if you leave them in closed black plastic bin bags, then you can just put the resulting compost-type stuff on your garden (I assume you have a garden if you have so many leaves! Though you might not have anywhere to put unsightly full black bin bags).

OOoh, you can't beat a nice bit of well rotted leaf mould as a soil conditioner, i'm with you there! The leaf mould bay in my compost area at the 'lotty is an essential part of my veg growing regime!

As Iain suggests, Lewisham will collect green waste if you use the special bags (see below), all good as they use it to make compost for the council parks etc...

How many bag fulls do you actually have?

Somebody with an allotment or a large garden might be glad to take them off you if they have space to put them while they rot down.

You could try posting in the "for sale/offered" section on here!

Will give you a warm glow which putting them in landfill won't (probably :) )

    • FOUND! I’m absolutely delighted to say that, after nearly two months, Rexy has been found and is now safely back home. He’s a bit skinny and tired but otherwise seems well. Thank you to everyone who kept an eye out, reached out or messaged with potential leads. And of course, to the wonderful couple who managed to gain his trust and messaged us. We are over the moon and he is enjoying some hearty meals and home comforts to start his recovery! Thank you all again. 🤗
    • Rising rents and business rates. That's what you're thinking of isn't it?..
    • I could hazard a guess as to why the "excellent long-term barber" in Forest Hill closed down.
    • All the parents looking after their kids instead of skiving from their meaningless desk jobs might mean it's quieter on here. Still, at least it gives free rein to the bad-tempered, long-winded pensioners that begin their posts "having resided in Dulwich for a not inconsiderable number of decades, may I be so bold as to suggest..." 😉
