Nero
Just been down near to Belair House and seen loads of film trucks and lighting vans parked in the car park there. A lighting van was also at the back of the Picture Gallery, and cars had been prevented from parking near there. No idea what they are filming, though. Incitatus
Just driven past, judging by the fleet of winnies parked up at their unit base it's definitely a feature with some cash behind it and their aren't too many of them filming on location in London at the moment, apart from the St Trinians remake. Also the location signs all say 'STT Location' so I'd wager it is the crazy girls school caper. Gosh, you may glimpse Mssrs Everett, Fry, Firth and E.Grant, even Girls Aloud :-S and other such acting luminaries around Dulwich this week. SimonM
Found this about the St Trinians films on the "Independent" web site:-"Meanwhile, the famous "gym-slip" uniform worn by pupils in both the Searle cartoons and later films was based on that of James Allen's Girls School in Dulwich, south London, an independent school where Searle sent his daughter, Kate." mockney piers
Oh dear god save us, Amy Winehouse and Richard E Grant taking up Dick Emery's mantle. Could we be witnessing the worst film since Spice Girls the Movie in the offing? snorky
"Richard E Grant "What is the bloke for ?Why isnt he "resting" more ? I would turn around and march home should I have to misfortune to arrive at the cinema and find that Richard E Grant was starring in a film I had tickets for . What a one duinemsional waste of space - he seems to crop up once a bleeding month on some minor chat show or other and invariably bleat on about his lastest straight to DVD rubbish project and then invariably regale us with tales of his childhood in African and amuse us with some Swahili speech.Very droll Mr Grant.Just like Tony parsons whines on about what a great time he had in the '70s when he was at ( what he reckons was ) the cutting edge of journalism and that his dad was a paratrooper, Richard E Grant can be relied upon for a few minutes plug and filler somewhere or other.Even Withnail & I - maybe the best thing hes ever done - is now about 45 years old - actually, can you think of anything else hes done since then ?no, me neither.bah.This will be a rubbish filum. mark my words Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/521-lights-camera-action-at-belair-house/#findComment-11864 Share on other sites
*Bob*
Like George Lucas, I think you have to forgive REG on the basis that the world would be a slightly poorer place without the one thing he has given us. (no, not Argos)Tony Parsons, on the other hand, really is a total arse. Every time I see him moaning away with his arm casually slung over the back of the interviewee sofa (usual on 'This Week') I just want to leap through the screen and pour hot tar over his genitals. Keef
Am I the only person that thinks Withnail & I is a vastly overrated pile of sh!t? I've tried watching several times as everyone has said what genius it is, but with the exception of a few odd bits, it's REALLY NOT THAT GOOD!!!!! Ahem, sorry :-S Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/521-lights-camera-action-at-belair-house/#findComment-12015 Share on other sites
mockney piers
Yes you are, begone foul demon.I've yet to witness a better script in a film. Not a word out of place, marvellous.Yeah, REG is irritating and has never done anything else worthwhile, but he fits the role so well. James
Keef, you are much mistaken indeed. W&I is a total classic. Has anyone mentioned the Camberwell Carrot yet? Keef
Just don't agree. Camberwell Carrot is a classic scene, granted. But as a whole, the film just doesn't do it for me... Maybe I should try watching it a bit earlier in the evening, instead of 1 or 2 in the morning whilst under various influences :-S Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/521-lights-camera-action-at-belair-house/#findComment-12051 Share on other sites
CrystalClear
Keef, you have passed out *every* time you've tried watching it round mine, I think you just need to try it in a soberer enviro! ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/521-lights-camera-action-at-belair-house/#findComment-12071 Share on other sites
Keef
Perhaps, but usually if a film is good, I stay awake... That said, I did fall asleep the first time I watched Napoleon Dynamite, and that is comedy genius! ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/521-lights-camera-action-at-belair-house/#findComment-12082 Share on other sites

*Bob*
Why does THE CAMBERWELL CARROT scene always get all the limelight? I know it's a big spliff (tee-hee!) and therefore mildly amusing, but it's hardly the defining moment of a film with too many good bits to mention. W&I is a one-off.. just great from start to finish. Keef
Just have to say to Mockney, you may like the film, each to their own. But best film script you've ever seen... COME ON?!?! We've watched better films around your house on several occasions. Anyway, this is way off topic. So, filming at Belair 'ey... James
I think it's not so much the fact that it's a big spliff, but the way the actor performs the scene so brilliantly. That combination of drug-induced sagacity and sheer jibberish. Genius.
