Are you kidding! If they do that the majority of you will end up giving it to that conwoman of varying description.

Dunno, living in East Dulwich is enough to make me want to kill everyone in the entire world, starting with people like you and ending with myself, so I wouldn't say that's a completely watertight theory.

what makes it middle class, a ?50000.00 a year office job. I know lots of so called middle class yuppies, and their parents worked in Metalshops Butchers and Sainsbury's. its all a load of pretentious drivel. I've met some right dodgy f*ckers in my job. and they have been a mixed bag. When I was growing up my parents taught me that there is good and bad of all peoples. you cant tar everybody with the same brush, and to generalize would be a mistake.

So why not move to a neighbourhood less likely to bring out your innate psychotic tendencies?

And leave it for a bunch of cosseted ex-Home Counties white supremacists? Never.

So, honk, from the sentiment you have just expressed are you saying that East Dulwich is a powder keg ready to explode - and if so do you think that East Dulwich taxes are getting the bang for the buck (?42,000) necessary to combat crime, in an area incidentally that has more burglaries per capita, than for instance, south Camberwell and north Peckham?

Burglaries yes, what with being an affluent area with stuff worth stealing.

Violent crime, not a spit in the ocean compared with the rest of London.

Which is more worthy of money would you say?

It's been at least 2 days, I know!

Violent crime is not something to be ignored, and although it's lower in East Dulwich than some other parts of London it still needs to be prevented with the help of funding, even if ?42,000 really is a drop in the ocean.

I really don't know what race has to do with any of this honk - it seems to me that black people and white people both pay their taxes and are both worthy of crime prevention. Surely no one disagrees with that.

I don't know what money is being spent in the rest of Southwark but by god I bet it's more than ?42,000. I read that last summer Lambeth was injecting ?5.2m, yes that 5.2 million pounds, over 2 years to combat teenage crime... so that ?42,000 seems more of a token gesture.

It has nothing to do with it.

By 'white' I meant 'middle class', it's a saying where I - oh, never mind.

matthew123, I'm pretty sure you've misunderstood it... 42k is not the entire budget for fighting violent crime in ED, it seems to be a one-off grant as far as I can tell. But you're right, it's a drop in the ocean.

As for honk - any excuse to play the race card, methinks. I don't think anyone said "If you don't like our ways, get out", it's just that most people wouldn't bother sticking around in a place which made them want to kill everyone in the entire world. But then again, he obviously just logs on to stir shit, so let him get on with it. It's quite entertaining in some ways.

Yes Jeremy I realise that the helicopters flying above, and the police vans charging down Lordship Lane are funded by a bit more than ?42k ;-)

And since when has 'white' been a euphemism for 'middle class' - wouldn't the upper class have something to say about these 'middle class supremacists' !?

Somewhere, underneath all the layers of whining, over-privileged cosseted Home Counties types shouting their insides out about parking, and calling for the immediate public flogging of anyone 'not right'....Somewhere underneath all that is a semi-alright area.

If we can keep the tone of this thread somewhere around 'predictable sarcasm', we might distract people enough to ward off another Ocado thread being created.
