I have a very old PC and a very slow internet connection (tonight 192kbps [sic]).

I'm getting the CouldFlare flash screen displayed.

No flash screen tonight. Probably because I have an unusually fast 882kbps connection.

I'll do a screen capture next time I see it.

Was it this screen you saw? Getting this on Safari iOS hanging for about 10 seconds tonight. Not seen it before.

The question is just what is it doing to my PC.

People with fast connections and/or PCs may not see it.

First thing to say is that it's nothing to worry about, I installed Cloudflare about three weeks ago and it's safe. It's a 'barrier' to the forum that prevents dodgy robots/spammers accessing the site but I believe it's still just learning what's good and bad right now and so there may be the odd screen like that appearing.

Let me know if it continues to happen and is a problem and I'll see if I can adjust it.

More problems this evening.

It seems to make itself system modal on my PC for up to about eight seconds.

Much longer than needed to pick up browser details or cookie parameters.

So what exactly is it doing to my PC?

It's more a question of what your PC is doing to it. There's something about your PC that means it has to to go through some hoops. I'll see if I can add you to the safe IP list.

As for lonely bots, I think that's just way beyond the realm of forum technology to get involved with.

edhistory, it's not doing anything to your PC... probably just executing some javascript which takes a long time to run on your old PC and slow connection.

it's playing up tonight. Keeps redirecting my connection, even though I am logged in.

Could you explain what redirecting your connection means? What exactly are you seeing? What URL are you looking at? DO you know what your IP is? The more information about the symptoms I get the more chance I have of working out the issue.

Hello - I consistently get the cloudflare page screengrab that siduhe posted - on my macbook with safari and on my iphone...have done for a while now...

Not a problem I suppose but it does seem to slow things down. Is it me or the EDF that causes it??

CloudFlare started doing something to my PC this morning around 9am that caused it to freeze.

I just got a Captcha security screen when first clicking on my short cut to the forum along with a "I am not a robot" click. Never seen it before, refreshed and it went away.

CloudFlare appears to be trying to run unauthorised javascript on my PC.

I'm getting this orange CloudFlare/Captcha message, too, it started last Saturday. Found it a bit worrying, so I'm slightly relieved it seems it's not just me. When I click back on the EDF on my shortcuts bar it goes away, but reappears next time I visit, or sometimes pops up again in the same session if I'm on the forum a while. Sometimes the message says 'You're nearly there', though I've been careful not to click anywhere in the Cloudflare window.

I'm using Safari on a Mac. It's not happening at work, where we have a pc using Google Chrome.
