Kes
My 5 year old daughter really wants a scooter for Christmas but is determined it should have 2 wheels, thing is she never really got to grips with the mini micro 3 wheel one that is now too small for her. Can anyone suggest a 2 wheel version that is easy to use and not too bulky? Are 2 wheel ones a lot trickier? Thanks!K Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/51844-scooter-recommendation/ Share on other sites
snowboarder
This one is good - http://www.micro-scooters.co.uk/scooters-model-mx-stunt/micro-mx-trixx-scooter-blue-black.htmlMy 5 year old is speedy on it, and it's an appropriate size. Have to say he was fearless on a three wheeler though - but I think the two wheelers are easier! DaveR
I'd recommend either of these:http://www.skates.co.uk/scooters/jd-bug-junior-original-street-scooter-reflex-blue.htmlhttp://www.decathlon.co.uk/play-4-scooter-red-id_8157804.html Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/51844-scooter-recommendation/#findComment-801679 Share on other sites
bluesuperted
Can anyone (snowboarder?) talk me through the merits of 2- or 3-wheel scooters for a 4.5yo? He loves his micro mini so was assuming the maxi would be obvious choice but should I be thinking about a 2-wheeler and what about these cheaper brands Dave R suggests? Argh! thanks for any advice! Kes
Great thanks for the advice - I think I'll look into those cheaper ones DaveR, decathlon stuff is usually good and I'm not keen to pay a lot for something she may not use much Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/51844-scooter-recommendation/#findComment-801823 Share on other sites
Polmoche
A two wheeler is tricker to balance, but if your child is coordinated they catch on quickly and never look back. Mine had a micro sprite 2 wheeler at 4. She's now on a Town 3 from decathalon. I will say this about Decathalon--no problem at all buying spares at reasonable prices - including wheels and brakes! VALFR59
Go for Decathlon, it is very good value for money and a nice trip for the kids to discover all sort of sports /try bikes etc.A new one is opening in Croydon Purley way the 18th of Decotherwise you have one at Surrey Quays shopping center or online Decathlon.co.uk! snowboarder
Bluesuperted - we got eldest sb a maxi micro when he was 4 so his brother could have the mini - and very quickly he decided he wanted a 2 wheeler. We went to a funky little scooter shop in west wickham and they recommended the stunt scooters over things like the micro sprite especially for energetic boys as they are much sturdier - all of the ones that fold have an inherent weakness in them....and whilst Z is hardly doing huge tricks on his he certainly puts it through its paces at 5.5. His younger brother now wants one too (at 3.5!) and can balance fine on it. I like the Micro scooter stunt version as it's quite good proportions. And I can have a go on it! sillywoman
Came on ready to recommend a Vespa, but see my interpretation of 'scooter' is a little out of kilter. :D Still, the thought of Kes's 5yr whizzing round on her Christmas Vespa tickled me - hehehe. Maybe in Italy eh? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/51844-scooter-recommendation/#findComment-803078 Share on other sites

Kes
Yikes, I'm definitely not motorising her!Have gone for one of the Decathlon scooters, she's not very physical and I can't see her doing tricks so I don't think the folding will be an issue and handy to be able to stick it under little sister's buggy Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/51844-scooter-recommendation/#findComment-803420 Share on other sites
