Louisa
I took a strol through South Kensington last night and saw some of the same shops I'd see in ED these days. I think in general Penge is just a little too far out for all the gentrified BS to occur, but I rule nothing out since I started seeing bearded hipsters blocking the corner of Blenheim Grove outside a trendy bar. Come back in 2050 and even Orpington might be gentrified.Louisa. Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> But Bromley will be safe for you Louisa, don't> worry. Was in Bromley today and had a great time strolling the boulevards looking for Christmas gifts. Granted it's not what it used to be, but it still retains a certain Kentish charm. Anyone ever drink in the Pawlenne Arms in penge? Is that what it's called? Looks old school boozer think its Irish owned not sure. Louisa. Bovine Juice
The Billet is vile. I could tell you a story about it off line, Otta, that would make you avoid the place. The Pawleyne is a bit hit and miss. I'd say the Maple Tree is the pick of the old school pubs. Otta
PM me about the billet! Only been in 3 times, but each time it's been very friendly so I've had no reason to doubt it even if it does look like a dive. The worst place is next to the car park at Penge East Station. That really IS a shit hole. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/51836-the-pick-of-penge/page/3/#findComment-803570 Share on other sites

Louisa
Drove through Penge earlier today and absolutely love the effort all the traders and local council go to for the Christmas lights. Looks very warm and seasonal. Unlike our local area, same old each year, especially the village, home to Charles Dickens and yet no effort put in whatsoever. Louisa. Jeremy
Brockley's one of those areas which is pretty nice (lots of big houses), but not actually that much there. I like the Saturday market though. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/51836-the-pick-of-penge/page/3/#findComment-807781 Share on other sites
