Monkey
Grinling Gibbons, a state primary on Deptford High Street, comes fourth in the Sunday Times' top 600 state and independent primary schools, before Alleyn's. The interview with the headteacher makes for a nice Sunday morning read. slh2009
Thanks for posting this. I couldn't read the whole article online so not sure if it mentioned that she is now also at Adamsrill in Sydenham, am hoping for similar success as this is one of our nearest schools :-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/51497-not-so-amazing-grinling-gibbons/#findComment-799006 Share on other sites
yeknomyeknom
I clicked on this post thinking it was about some new xmas toy fad or something. I can't believe Grinling Gibbons is the name of a school. It's great. Like something out of Harry Potter. bawdy-nan
Grinling Gibbons was a aculptor of decorative wood carvings - usually working in limewood. He created the extraordinary carvings at Hampton Court that were partitially destroyed by fire and then restored by the equally extraordinary David Esterly http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01r9q6rhttps://www.google.co.uk/search?q=grinling+gibbons&espv=2&biw=1366&bih=643&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=ijJqVLS9A87ksASt0YGQBA&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/51497-not-so-amazing-grinling-gibbons/#findComment-799501 Share on other sites
Monkey
I posted about what I thought was an amazing school a while ago. Turns out they were cheating...http://www.standard.co.uk/news/education/london-state-school-rated-best-in-country-has-exam-results-wiped-out-10022662.htmlAs my grandmother says: if it looks too good to be true, it probably isn't!
