Having nearly killed 2 cyclists - both black men in dark clothes with no lights on their bikes- in the backstreets of Stockwell on the same night- I wholeheartedly agree with Salsaboy....

There was no suggestion in the original post that the cyclist didn't have lights. Someone saying (quite admirably) "I didn't take as much care as I should when opening my door", becomes yet another 'bloody cyclists being irresponsible' thread. Of course cyclists should have lights on when it's dark, but that's a complete non-fecking-sequitur in this case.

You can construe it, but I'm not convinced anyone's bashing cyclists.

It seems everyone wants cyclists to be safe.

I certainly wasn't bashing cyclists. I was just pointing out something that should be obvious, but to some people, isn't.
