Bonfire2010
I have got to take my youngest son to The Royal London Hospital tomorrow afternoon. I'll also have my oldest (4 years) in tow. I've decided to get the overground from Denmark Hill (lift access permitting) but am wondering what the platform to street access is like at Whitechapel station. I've looked at the tfl website but it's not giving too much info away. Does anyone know what it's like? I can take a sling, but would rather take the buggy if possible as will have to take lots of snacks, drinks, toys etc. as distractions while we wait. MGolden
I used to go to Whitechapel quite a lot. I don't remember seeing any step free access - lots of stairs to navigate but if you can find a member of staff to help you it's probably worth going on the overground as the station is literally opposite the hospital. Dodo1
HiIt's stairs at the moment until the redevelopment (2016). Fortunately from the Overground you only have one flight of stairs unlike The District Line. Bonfire2010
Great - many thanks both. If it's only one flight of stairs I might chance it with the buggy. Otta
It's an L shape with a landing at the corner if that makes sense. But quite wide and not too steep. I'd definitely go for it, don't think you'll struggle too much. Bonfire2010
Yep, that does make sense, thanks Otta. My eldest is fine with stairs so I think if we take it slowly we'll be ok.Thanks again all.
