This is often the ending to a recommendation in the business section. I often wonder how many of the people who write that have a clue what's reasonable and what isn't. I suspect that most of them haven't a clue, don't pay the bill (hubby does) and are just happy the job is done to their satisfaction and the guys who did it were very nice and tidy too.

Of course I could be completely wrong.

Wow sexist comment or what.

What irks me more is the comments people make like 'worked extremely long hours, day after day' (I had him slave for me with no breaks in the pissing rain, he got trench foot but hey - he chose that line of work), or 'he was happy to attend to any extra task I gave him' (he wore his fingers down to the 2nd knuckle because I didn't really have a clue what I wanted, but laid it on him, completely oblivious to the inconvenience I was putting him through and the impact it had on his prior alternative arrangements).

Wow. Sexist comment or what.

It's 'or what' actually. My point was that 'reasonable' is totally subjective as it means different things to different people. I threw in the bit about 'hubby' as there is probably some truth in it based on what I've read so far, but of course I knew in this PC world/forum somone would pick up on it. At least it gave RPC something to write about in the irrational rage thread (in case she was stuck) and maxxi the chance to have a dig, again.

Of course you can call it a sexist comment, but if you don't realise that men and women are different then you are probably on Venus or Mars. Anyway, once I've completed my research on the Business thread I'll publish my findings which to this point I will admit are not proven and just a hunch.

Yesterday I had a key cut. It cost me ?3.50 for less than a minutes work. If I had one cut each minute for an hour that would be ?210. Is that reasonable? I had some windows repaired at home. Two people worked on them and were gone by 11.30 and charged nearly ?1000. Is that reasonable? This is why I'd like to know why people say something is 'reasonable'. Is it really? Define it so we know what you are talking about.

It's meant to be maxxi.

An aside...and with cap in hand touching forelock.

I'm definitely on one or the other, venus or mars, then...maybe an intergalactic traveller.

There's no differences worth the name between genders/sexes..except for all those determined to hang on to, or construct.. domination of whichever one is an own ..(entirely without logic)...favourite.

    • Whose priorities? Peckham Rye station is operated by Southern Railway. Southwark Council doesn’t own or operate the station, and it can't force Southern or anyone else to install lifts at the station. I'd love there to be lifts at Peckham Rye. It would be very expensive.
    • Anything that improves the front of the station has to be a good thing. Opening up the square in front is a superb idea, it will show the beauty of the architecture of the station, just as they did at Kings Cross when they ripped out the monstrosity of the 1960's frontage and now the station gleams. People probably go there to see the beauty of it. Now wouldn't it be good if once opened up and cleaned up, people visited to see how wonderful it then looks. I guess there is a generally lack of trust that the station square will open by the end of next year, HOWEVER, when the current frontage is removed and the square is opened up as it originally was it will look grand.
    • i) You must think Liebour can do no wrong, can lie through their teeth and yet you appear to believe every word Starmer and his stooges utter. ii) More assumptions made by you, well guess what you're utterly W R O N G, seems like that's your first trip, just as I predicted.  iii) and you won't be blaming me old man. Shockingly, I actually have to agree with some of the points you've raised.  Reform are the relics of BNP and UKIP, both detestable so add them together and you get an even worse result which is Reform that the UK can do without.
    • Farage has done nothing but divide and diminish this country, all in the name of his ego and his bank balance. Brexit has made us poorer and has damaged our influence in the world. He supported Trump who is directly threatening our interests and he supported Liz Truss' disastrous budget. He has done his best to ensure our country's decline and now people too proud to admit their mistakes and the deleterious impact of UKIP / The Brexit party / Reform Ltd are again voting for him to finish the job / nail down the coffin lid. Yes, he is a plastic patriot.
