Recommendations for nice bar in Forest Hill?

Can anyone recommend a nice bar / pub in Forest Hill for us to meet for a couple of drinks before a show at the Hob 8.30?

Sylvan Post on Dartmouth Road isn't a bad place to start but avoid the Bird In Hand across the road.

The actual Hob is OK before you go upstairs for the show.

There's also a place opposite the Wetherspoons which looks OK although I've not been myself.

I really like Sylvan Post... one of my favourites in the wider area.

Yup Sylvan Post, really good bar.

And the Hob is really quite a decent pub-decent selection of drinks.

Sylvan Post is good and quite quirky. Some love the decor, some find it a little laboured. Great drink selection.

I think the place that Ruffers means is Canvas & Cream. It's lovely but a little more food/snack oriented. They do beer/wine but not sure on spirits.

Sylvan Post is good, but personally I'd just go straight to the Hob.
