Alan Medic
This thread is inspired by my son who recently looked at a packet of red lentils and asked, why are they orange? I was stumped for an answer.Feel free to answer if you know and/or ask your own questions. DulwichFox
Red Lentils: a light red to orange colour. Red lentils are actually a split and hulled version of the yellow lentil, with the shortest cooking time of all varieties. We'd have used ' 'red' for what we now call orange. Similarly, the ancient Greeks had no common word for 'blue'. They saw all blues as varieties of light or dark 'green'. Alan Medic
https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=538835669550705&fref=nfHaving seen this it reminded me of a question I don't know the answer to. What happens if 4 cars arrive from different directions at a roundabout? If you give way to the car on the right then everyone is giving way to someone. Stalemate or just chance your arm and go first? I'm sure someone knows what the regulation is. I just don't.PS The link is entertaining though I'm sure some of you have witnessed the like Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/50661-questions-that-need-answering/#findComment-796737 Share on other sites
red devil
If all 4 cars arrive at the same time, then in theory they all have a right of way as the roundabout will be clear, so I think it will be the driver with the quickest reaction time, faster car etc who would enter the roundabout first and gain a right of way... uncleglen
This happens frequently around Bickley....usually what happens is that the car on your right will wave you to go as they are very polite and considerate in Bickley! StraferJack
Interesting that some answers plump for "who is the most selfish" and another goes with "politeness will prevail"Happy to be with unc on this one Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/50661-questions-that-need-answering/#findComment-796771 Share on other sites
red devil
Fine, unless all 4 car drivers are beckoning the car to their left... ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/50661-questions-that-need-answering/#findComment-796776 Share on other sites
Alan Medic
Is there no regulation for this then? Imagine 4 drivers in fast cars all putting the foot down at the same time.....I suppose they would all miss each other. steveo
Isn't that a Clouseau film or What's New Pusssycat? I'm seeing a small roundabout, Citroens, police cars and a man pulling up a chair to watch. Everyone is just waving at each other. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/50661-questions-that-need-answering/#findComment-796879 Share on other sites
