Nigello
I've a few yuccas that do well outside, lots of ivy, jasmine, some holly as well as hydrangea and pyracantha but need a few more ideas for large pots in a relatively sheltered (no winds) but ultimately sun-free back yard. Has anyone an idea for others that might do as well, including climbers? red devil
You should be ok with a Camellia, they also provide a nice splash of colour when not mush else is in bloom...https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?pid=327The garden centre in West Dulwich has a display of shade loving plants...http://www.alleynpark.co.uk/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/50474-good-evergreen-plantssmall-trees-for-shady-area/#findComment-791762 Share on other sites
Sue
Holboelia - easy to grow, thrives in shade, evergreen, lovely fragrant flowers in spring.Never tried it in a container though.https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/details?plantid=965Fatsia Japonica - architectural evergreen leaves, tough as old boots, won't grow as big in a container.https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/details?plantid=788Most ferns (but many aren't evergreen and will disappear over the winter - but it's lovely to see them come back when winter ends!).Many other plants like shade:https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?pid=100 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/50474-good-evergreen-plantssmall-trees-for-shady-area/#findComment-792426 Share on other sites
Nigello
ThanksYes, I have a fern which has done well but never really gets past a certain size. At least it's healthy, so thankful for small mercies/small ferns.
