SimonM
>>Injury is not in question here Simon. He fell over without being touched to gain a penalty.<<Wenger contends, and having seen the replay a few times I think he may well be right, that there was contact between the goalkeeper and Eduardo. That being so I think overruling the referee in this instance would set an appalling precedent. Mick Mac
They are scoring more goals against premiership teams so far than in each game against Celtic Declan. I think they look a good team to me but we will know more tomorrow. Narnia
Yes, have to admit they look good from what I've seen. Still think that a United win is the most likely result. Then a draw, but not 3-1 for the Arse. ratty
oh my god, just watching match of the day. What was Eboue thinking? Terrible dive, and after events of this week. Wenger goes up in my estimations however. Cracking match though. matthew123
Was Rooney already going to ground before keeper made contact? Bizarre own goal to compound matters. Perhaps it's for the better that United won, as Arsenal were otherwise magnificent and winning may have given them an unbreakable confidence for rest of season.Watched the Liverpool game in a pub in West Kensington and it was rammed with about 100 Reds. Have to say it was a great atmosphere with plenty of singing. I thus knock the Vale on the head! Ladygooner
Anyone else think the game didn't merit 9 yellow cards? Mike Dean apparently gave out more cards last season than any other ref. Sandperson
I'm pretty sure there was nothing wrong with the Rooney Pen. I wouldn't have been suprised to see Fletcher's takle being given as a pen either. No way there's was any need for all those yellow cards and the Wenger sending off was ridiculous. I thought, all in all it was a well balanced game and a draw would have been a fair result but you just can't legislate for an own goal like that. SimonM
Didn't Mike Dean even get a mention in "The Street" for allegedly being a bit too much of a homer at Old Trafford? I see Wenger has now receieved an apology from Boss Ref for that piece of high farce near the end. 9 cards was ludicrous Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/5028-on-the-ball-new-football-focus/page/167/#findComment-242524 Share on other sites
