I just want to make a comment before this one disappears. There has been lots of discussion about how threatening or not the situation appears from the outside but no one has acknowledged that instinct is a very powerful force and if this person felt threatened then she most probably was being threatened.

I had a nasty experience with a guy several years ago and I knew from the minute I saw him that something was going to happen, even though to all intents and purposes he was a normal guy walking along the street. My instinct kicked in and I knew he was following me, my instinct was proven right when he doubled back, ran up my stairwell and tried to push me into my house with his hand over my mouth.

So yes, what is so scary about a guy chasing after you and commenting on your boots? Unless you were there you can't know.

I agree with the subsequent argument about scare mongering and what's the point posting without a dscription etc etc as it doesn't really serve any purpose but we have to acknowledge the discomfort caused and to make light of it is a little insensitive.

Unfortunately, women are more vulnerable on the streets and need to be aware of their surroundings in a way that I don't think men can really understand.

Interesting point there Asset, but disagree with your last sentence. As an adult I'd say blokes are safer, but as a teenager growing up in South London, believe me you had to be bloody aware. I was subject to countless attempted muggings and whilst I was lucky in that I never actually got anything stolen, or hurt, I had to fight/run away several times, and believe me, it gives you quite an awareness of the streets you're walking around! As you get older and bigger you're less vulnerable, but you don't forget what it's like. I do agree though that an adult woman is more vulnerable. Sorry to hear your story, and hope you kneed the git in the nuts!

    • Looking for a celebrity impersonator for a party or any good companies any one knows, please let me know!!
    • That’s another big hike on the Sainsbury’s mini rolls! I spoke to one of the managers on the day of the anchovies price rise but all he could say was that his store doesn’t set the prices. Very vague and not helpful. i started this thread about price rises in  Sainsbury’s and it’s somehow being blamed on Brexit etc!
    • And the Sainsbury’s own brand chocolate mini rolls have gone from £1.15 to £1.40 overnight, so 22%-ish. I prefer them them to the Cadbury original because they have a lot more chocolate on them, presumably because they’re made in a less advanced factory. I would think that getting the Rizla thin coating of chocolate that Cadbury’s accountants demand onto a piece of sponge is quite a sophisticated operation. Discuss.
    • Another recommendation for Leon. He was able to come out to our electrical elergency within 24 hours of me contacting him. His communication was great and whilst he could not solve our problem, he was able to perform tests to identify this and did so quickly and efficiently. He charging  is very fair and his manner very pleasant. Both of these in contrast to some experiences I have had elsewhere.    happy to put my name to recommending Leon. His number is  07707 925039.
