sarahjackson4545
Just heard that the DIY shop on Dunstans Road is closing. Not greatly surprised because it's been half empty for ages and the owner is anything but interested. Anyone heard what it's going to be? Bluelagoon
I hope not. I get my cat food from there, and it convenient for all kinds of bits and bobs. I actually quite like the owners, helpful when you need them. I haven't heard anything - guess they are retiring? dbboy
Would be a real shame to see it close, being it is convenient for those this side of Lordship Lane. J27
I've always had a very positive experience of the shop, which I use a lot. I find the staff really helpful - would be very sad to see it go. kristymac1
Oh No, really? Will be very sad to see it go - have always had very pleasant and helpful service from the owners..... sarahjackson4545
Yes it will be a shame because it is handy, but could be so much better. They haven't changed for years, which is sometimes a good thing, but I've been to similar shops and they have so much more. I used to get my dog food from there but gave up because they're always out of stock, so I gave up. I find the man surly, but the woman is good, very smiley and helpful Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/50087-diy-shop-on-dunstans-road-closing/#findComment-788800 Share on other sites
jimbo1964
It would be an awkward space to let I'd have thought. Very long and narrow. Gubodge
What a shame. I've always found them very helpful (although not overly chatty, but that's just the way I like it). I far prefer it to Plough Homestores. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/50087-diy-shop-on-dunstans-road-closing/#findComment-788860 Share on other sites
tasha1
First time posted but a follower of the EDF. I had to pop in there this morning and asked the chap who owns it whether he was closing. He was very confused and said that they are definitely not closing and wasn't-aware of any speculation that they might be. The women who works there is leaving. He asked me to post on here to let people know Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/50087-diy-shop-on-dunstans-road-closing/#findComment-788906 Share on other sites

emiliagreenson
I was offered a look at the shop from my estate agent a couple of weeks ago so to my knowledge its definitely up for sale. I know the shop well, Its a shame the lady is going, she's always so helpful. Not so fussed on the guy though. Sat down most of the time, abrupt, rude. Used to be nice but acts like it's a hardship to serve these days..Will miss the dog most! tasha1
I use the shop quite regularly for pet supplies and other bits and pieces and my own experience is that they have both always been helpful and friendly. The chap told me the women was leaving to pursue her painting and decorating business. Hope I've got that right! sarahjackson4545
I'm not a representative of anyone but myself. I overheard them talking in the shop but had my almost 2 year old with me who just wanted to grab everything so we left before a tantrum started!I shouldn't have to defend myself, I read EDF all the time but haven't felt like I wanted to write anything until nowTime will only tell if what I heard was right and they want to keep it under wraps until it's set in stone or I misheard. lizbells6
The reason you are having to defend yourself, SJ4545, is that although you say you read the forum all the time, the first post you feel like writing is to start off a rumour which could be very damaging to a small local business and seems to be incorrect.Wouldn't it have been better just to wait until the next time you went into the shop and ask them, instead of posting something you later say you might have misheard? Perhaps you should edit the title of this post. emiliagreenson
I know for a fact it was up for sale, whether it is still I don't know but the proof will be in the pudding. Like a lot on this forum questions are asked to be answered, if it's incorrect then so be it. If anything it's brought attention to it being there.
