This section now fills a page every day or perhaps even faster. AS a result items put up for sale or wanted disappear from the screen rather quickly.

Could the section be broken down into three sub sections - which might each fill at a slower pace and thus give greater visibility to each posting.

I think it would be nice to have following sections.

Recommended

Wanted (to cover all wanted including family stuff)

Offered / for sale

"Mother Care Room" (to flog family stuff)

Family Issues

I say this, because "The Family Room" has become a second for sale page, and it can be hard actually trying to find the interesting threads that aren't selling stuff.

Just my opinion on the matter.

While we're at it, you could also have a "Games Room" (as suggested by someone ages ago I think), so we'd never have to see the song game, or word association threads again... Limericks could also go there I guess.

For me those sections would be sufficient - but reading Keef's suggestion provides another option.

Is it possible to have a cascade - so the "top level" is call, as now, For Sale, Wamted & Recommendations and then having entered that section there are three (or more) subsections??

I definitely agree they need dividing, and great minds etc I was going to suggest the same thing, but I can't see the point of going into one section only to have to then select another subsection, I think they would be better all as main sections.

Or at least, have "recommended" as a main section and "offered and wanted" as another, with the latter split into subsections.

As I new user to the forum I think there is a little confusion/crossover between the 'recommendations' and 'gossip' sections, since the gossip section allows you to talk about whatever you want, including restaurants. If I want a restaurant/food recommendation it would be nice to go to one place to find out about it - you might be lucky enough to spot a recommendation popping up in the gossip section but you would never see it in the 'for sale' section amongst all those other posts. I agree with splitting this section up and I think discussion about restaurants/cafes etc. in East Dulwich deserve their own subsection.

Hi flowermum

My take on it would be that if you want to make a specific recommendation, you put it in WO&R, and if you want to start a general discussion (or have a moan!) you put it in the General section. But yes I agree, it does get a bit confusing.

By the way, you got a bit of a cold reply to your first post, which was a shame. However, just to give you the context, there have been lots of instances in the past where businesses have registered as 'happy customers' to give themselves a boost. Considering that they are more than welcome to post to advertise their services for nothing - and usually honest posts along the lines of "Hey, come and try my new coffee business" are warmly welcomed, it's considered out of order. Not suggesting for a second that yours wasn't bona fide, of course - but that's the background to the somewhat harsh response you got.

Try the Search facility which works across all the sections if you want to find out about a specific business.

    • Hello,  Does anyone know of a garage to rent in the East Dulwich area?  Best,  Anthony
    • So glad to give support in any small way. It happens more often than you think. I live near a footpath anf once came home from holiday to find that someone had poured paint through the bottom of the fence which had run all down through my soil and on to my plants. It was a job trying to dig out all the contaminated soil and to this day I still find bits of paint in the soil. No idea who it was or why they would do such a thing.
    • Glad this is back on, looking forward to seeing you all tonight
    • Hello,  I am a journalist for the Sunday Times investigating VW car badge's being stolen for a news story. I saw this thread and would love to speak to any of those who posted who had this happen to them. It doesn't have to be a VW, I'm also interested in covering other car owners/makes hit by this crime. My contact details are below - please get in touch if you can help or if you have heard about someone who has fallen victim to this locally  give them my details and let them know I would like to speak to them. Particularly interested in hearing from @KB77 @jim_the_chin @d walker @ed26 @OG25  on this thread if you could email or call me. Thanks!
