LJ23
Hello All,I was lucky enough to receive a place through the ballot for next years race and was wondering if anyone else on here has and would maybe like to meet up and train together in the South East London area? I am a complete novice, in the stages of training for a 10K at present so you would have to put up with my beginners level! Anyway I look forward to hearing from any fellow marathon runners (plus any tips or advice from anyone that has run would also be appreciated!).Cheers!Lucy Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/49760-anyone-else-running-the-london-marathon-next-year/ Share on other sites
Earl Aelfheah
Congratulations! I ran my first (and possibly last) London marathon this year. It's a fantastic experience. My advice would be to incorporate a little strength training (Google 'strength training for runners') if you can and build up your mileage slowly. Getting through the training without injury is half the challenge and both the aforementioned will help with that. Have fun! This is what the blackness underneath is. They then tend to falloff. See http://www.bupa.co.uk/running/injury-prevention-and-recovery/injuries/black-toenail/If you wear shoes that fit correctly it shouldn't be a problem. I'd recommend going to a specialist running shop to get shoes that fit - I have been going to Run and Become (www.runandbecome.com) near Westminster for years and always found them very good. Earl Aelfheah
Definitely to to a proper running shop, have a gait analysis and get some good shoes. Sweatshop, Runners Need, or Run and Become are all good. el_fed
Run and Become is excellent, I've been buying my running shoes from there for years their service and knowledge is excellent. Also, i would recommend the Dulwich park runners http://www.dulwichparkrunners.co.uk/site/ i've joined them a couple of times for their weekly evening run and everyone was really friendly. Mcallum32
I got a place in the ballot as well. Never run a marathon before, although I've done a couple of 10ks. I have no idea idea what I am doing, lol. I've started doing the Park Run at Peckham Rye on a Saturday morning. It starts a 9. O clock and is about 3 miles. You have to register online and print off a barcode to enter.
