Sue
I know some ovens etc now come with fingerprint proof stainless steel finishes, but the cooker I am thinking of buying doesn't.Am I just setting myself up for endless aggravation and constant wiping down of fingerprints?Has anybody bought one and now wishes they hadn't?? red devil
Use a smithereen of baby oil to put a good as new patina on it...yes I am talking about the oven Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/49755-cleaning-stainless-steel-appliances/#findComment-786010 Share on other sites
Sue
That's what Rangemaster just told me, but does the baby oil actually stop the fingermarks in the first place?Because if not, you've still got to keep wiping them off, haven't you?I'm not particularly houseproud, but I think this might drive me mad(der) :))The problem is the only other colour I like in the model I want is white, and I've been told the seals go yellow and look terrible ..... Salsaboy
Try to get one with sea-lions instead. They keep their colour quite well. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/49755-cleaning-stainless-steel-appliances/#findComment-786035 Share on other sites

Sue
Actually I now find I had misunderstood.Apparently it's not that the seals (I can't think of another word, lol) go yellow, it's that they deteriorate with time and heat leaks out of the cooker and turns the white coating on the cooker yellow. Or something like that anyway. No jokes about jaundiced sealions please :)And the cooker shop says that baby oil is OK on stainless steel fridges etc, but not on cookers :( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/49755-cleaning-stainless-steel-appliances/#findComment-786436 Share on other sites
