New sign has gone up over old Duck Egg - the return of Luca's cafe and bakery

Remind me of Luca - mind is a blank.

Near to the Plough, the former corner shop looks like it will become again a corner shop - there was some movement there recently.

The butcher's shop opposite the Plough could do with someone taking it over - it has been tagged quite boldly already.

Just heard from the traders on LL that the Laundrette near Pearspring will be a hairdresser and the Indian restaurant that was a Tapas bar will be a Tapas bar again

Pearspring is lovely by the way. I bought some lovely plants there today

Windows (wooden, I think) shop on FHR, near the CoOp, in what used to be either the launderette or the betting shop. The one next to it is under reconstruction but the men working there did not know what it would be, somewhat oddly.

The Duck Egg in North Cross Road is now Luca's.

Presumably the same Luca's which used to be on Lordship Lane?

From What I can gather the Duck egg owner said it was being taken over by some Italian guys, I don't think it's the old Luca's, A friend of mine (and old boss) is friends with the old Luca's owner that was on Lordship lane, I met him a year ago and he definitely had no desire to re open then & wanted out as it was not profitable enough (he is also German, not Italian)

He could have changed his mind though.

I don't think this has been mentioned elsewhere. There is a new-ish restaurant on Goldsmiths Road by the same people from the Old Spike Roastery called Aside. It's firmly in the trendy camp - sharing plates, 2 word menu descriptions and bare, noisy room, but the food is good, the staff are lovely and they do a cracking cocktail.

Apologies if already mentioned but saw the transfers are going up on the window of the old (tiny) Nina Christe shop in LL nr Curry Cabin and it's going to be a vape shop - 53 Vape.

I walked past the other day while some of the construction crew (or maybe owners?) were setting up, and another passer-by commented about them being the same as the LL Luca's... but I'm pretty sure the guy affiliated with the cafe replied that they are different.

New restaurant opening in old waiting room of Peckham Rye station - Coal Rooms. 'Soft launch' this week. Lots of meat and smokiness by look of it.

Yes, two Italian guys are opening this one (so I was told), the owner of the old Lucas was quite glad to see the back of it when I met him last year and definitely didn't seem keen to repeat the process.

I asked them on Saturday and they are definitely not linked to the old Lucas. looks like a nice cafe, nice owners etc Opens next weekend i think.

The old mobile phone shop, near to La Scala/ED station, is having a lick of paint. The man doing the decorating said he did not know what the owner wanted to do with it but said it could be an office or a florist.

Also, the butcher's shop near The Plough had workemen in but they did not know what it would be.
