Had coffee at Trio early last Saturday morning. The coffee was good and the space great. Will go back for lunch one day.

Then had breakfast at Cafe G on the Rye and it was really, really tasty, although a bit more expensive than I usually pay.

Sitting at the lights in Kennington on Saturday, I observed three adjoining estate agents on one side of the road opposite two estate agents on the other. Locals probably have to use Ocado because there weren't any obvious shops.

It's handy if they want to pop down the road and buy a house though.

So getting back to the old ED Deli site and Molly Meg/Anorak impending pop-up closure. Do we have any idea who or what is interested in this site? I understand an application to extend the retail space has been submitted? If it is another estate agents I will give up the will to live.

I still wonder about maybe Costa, given the apparent success of Caffe Nero over the road. I'd be amazed if anything independent could afford that space.

It is...

1. (Building) a room built largely of glass to afford exposure to the sun

2. (Electronics) a bed equipped with ultraviolet lights used for acquiring an artificial suntan

3. (Commerce) an establishment offering such facilities

I wonder? I really like Il Mirto too. Dartmouth Rd would be a good spot for them and not much local competition.

    • Sadly, the impact this budget is having on the economy was felt far and wide before it even occurred  BBC News - Retail sales fell in October as Budget fears hit spending - BBC News https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gmy9xldgno The increase in employers NI, whilst not directly taxing working people, will be passed on to them in higher costs of services and goods so it's an indirect tax.  The argument of the alleged 20 billion black hole, I was always taught "To cut your coat according to your cloth" and the government should have taken a little time to boost the econimy before increasing wages and spending. The current feel is that they are increasing costs, red tape and inflation, all of which is not giving businesses the confidence to grow and generate income which inversely increases the tax income.

    • So does anybody know why all these police were there, apart from doing their shopping at Tesco  and keeping warm with their car engines running (to be fair, you can hardly blame them for that, this weather)? Are they still there? How many of them are/were there? Has nobody asked them what they are doing there, rather than asking on here?!
