Myself, two Turkish friends and another friend went to the 'Authentic' Hisar saturday gone, we were especially excited since etched on the glass of their window it says they do Pide and Lahmacun two very traditional Turkish dishes, our favourites! ( though I do recall before they did not have any when I went but could not say for definite if it was Hisar) but my friends were adamant they did do it since it is authentic and clearly advertised on their window! so off we went, and they said they do not do Pide or Lahmacun, nor will they ever do it! I mentioned but it's false advertising, the waiter just shrugged his shoulder, said they do not do it nor will they.

Are they allowed to advertised food that are not on the menu and they have no intention of selling now or in the future?

It went from bad to worse when three of my friends ordered Lemon cheesecake ( I chose banana ice cream) and their cheesecakes were rock hard ( Obviously served straight from the freezer) they attempted to eat it but naturally they could not get their spoon through the cheesecake and called a waiter over who stated all he can do is microwave it.....Well that was an experience! Microwave warm cheesecake!

Not sure I will be going back again, I think I will stick to Meze Mangal in future!

yes, went there myself with my girlfriend, had a trout, although, not typically turkish, it was like it had never been swimming in the sea, dryer than the sahara and about as tasty as a mouthful of its sand.... still, maybe next time, i should have something more typically turkish...
You don't seem to have any evidence to back up your claims. No Pide or Lahmacun on the online menu or any photos on the shop windwows. Personally I've always liked the place but haven't been in a while, though as a fellow addict of cheesecake I share your pain. Shocking!

The I-Beyti ( lamb wrapped in tortilla) was rather delicious but I wanted PIDE!!

I knew it was Hisar Mark! Wasn't sure but now you have confirmed!

I don't know, I might say the same again next year if the writings are still there and I cannot remember which Turkish place it was! ( I go to lots, I have a place out in Turkey so like to think I know my Turkish food!)

Are you mad? Ordering trout in Hisar is like ordering a steak and chips from the "British menu" at Mr Lieus.

Hisar is fantastic - but stick to what they are great at - grilled meat. Their best dishes are grilled lamb cubes or grilled chicken with salad and rice. They also do a special lamb dish with a sauce - cant remember but its the priciest one. The homous and pitta are also good.

Not the best wine list but a few cheery drinkable bottles on it. And the most gentlemanly old school efficient waiters that always make any women swoon.....

What Hisars do, they do well, however they do advertise Pide and Lahmacun, both of which I adore and have asked for in the past and also been disappointed that they don't do it. I too have pointed out that if they don't offer the dishes they shouldn't have them on the windows to a total lack of interest.

You can get ok Pide at Tas Pide opposite the Globe - but I've never got Lachmacun in England which is a real shame.

Not eaten in Hizar, but if it's anything like Dish Dash in Balham, then I must get round to it... Do they do a decent veggie selection (for the Missus)? That's why Dish Dash is great, it's the same great grilled meat type place, but they also have some brill veggie options.

    • Not really since the first world war, and mainly in the sense then of 'getting a Blighty one' meaning a wound so serious you had to be sent home. I seriously doubt if one school child in 100 now would know what Blighty meant if the word was presented on its own with no context.

    • Why is the name a big of a red flag? Blighty is a common name for the UK whatever people might think.
    • The only election which counts is the General Election.  There is still strong resentment for fourteen year's of Conservative rule. They squeezed the working class's way to hard, then they squeezed the middle class, but somehow the upper class never got touched, funny that.   There is also new resentment for Labour because of the utter balls up they've made of things since coming to power nine months ago. The majority of the population (or at least those with an ounce of common sense) want these clowns out of office ASAP because they see the damage they are doing to UK plc. They squeezed the pensioners, then the farmers and then business. They made and broke promise after promise, or just didn't tell the truth or say what they where going to do, otherwise known as merely lying to get elected. Inflation may be falling but the cost of things in the shops and utility bills keep on rising, the direct opposite of what they promised. They will never be trusted once they are ousted from power in about four and a half years time.   Everything they do and touch causes further harm, led by three stooges, Rayner, Reeves and balls'less Starmer, who couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag. He still thinks he's a solicitor at the DPP. Rather than spending week upon week getting involved in international politics he needs to be sorting out the UK's issues, sadly he's not up to the job and nor are his Cabinet.  Society needs a mix of people with different skills to prosper, not more and more graduates who can't get jobs in what they studied in.   Reform is the current anti establishment party, which will hopefully wither away back to where it came from.  The Liberals and Greens, well what can you say apart from using them as another alternative vote of dissatisfaction, but neither will come to power.  The country seriously needs stability and a Government that stands up for and represents it's people, not what MP's want but what the constituencies want and need.  Government needs to become far more open and transparent, it needs to be seen to be doing its job, doing what MP's are elected to do,  working for the people in the constituencies, getting back to basic principles and rebuilding the trust which has been lost by successive party's immaterial of them being, red, blue, light blue, yellow, green or some other colour.
